After watching that video I would be pissed if I hadn't gone. Nice work!

I want to download the video. Is there a way you can put it on a host site?

Wow! Thanks for the great responces! :D

I wasn't sure if anyone would like it because it seemed so far removed from the typical DSM videos.

^^^This guy. LOL

Video is amazing!:thumb:

Have you given thought to making an extended version with outtakes and such for a DVD release? Maybe something to try in the future.

I am actually.

I'm doing some test to see how much HD vid I can fit on a standard DVD so people can play it in their PS3's. This should keep the cost down to $4 or less (shipping+dvd cost).

I'm also looking to host the video so people can download the vid and/or dvd iso as well, but I can't afford the server costs. I would use torrents, but I don't think there would be enough seeders to get decent speeds.

Right now I'm working on putting together something for some of the racers and shops. It'll be a vid of all the footage I have of their cars from the this year's shootout. Just a thank you to all the racers and shops for giving us all one hell of a show! :D

Damn dude, you ARE THE MAN! I will definitely get a dvd copy if/when you do that. That's really cool what you are going to do for the racers too. :thumb:

I wish I could have gone, I love that FWD vs Starion slowmo! Makes me wish I still had mine :(

The HD stream I stole from your Youtube :p specs as follows:
1280x720 res
H.264 video codec
AAC stereo audio @ 75kbps
222MB

You'd be able to fit about 5 hours onto a DVD as mpeg-4 at those specs. I'm doubtful that you have that much video. (but I could be wrong)

DVD iso's just suck, really.

You could put the mp4 or iso or whatever into a Dropbox account, and serve the file out of that. Dropbox accounts are free for 2gig.

If you need more that 2gig for the file, I have 7.5gig available in my Dropbox. I believe other services such as UbuntuOne and SpiderOak allow public linking of sync'd content, as well.

Another alternative would be to host it yourself off your machine. Set up a FTP or HTTP server if you have a PC that remains on and serve off of that. I have a home server in my closet that I could host it on, but I only have ~4Mbps up to serve with.

You could upload it to one of those lame file hosting sites, like.... rapidshare. There are others, I'm sure. I don't know what their limit it on file size, though.

Or you just just torrent it. It wouldn't take all too many seeders to get decent throughput.

I'm really pretty new to all of this, so correct me if I'm wrong:

Those are just the specs youtube uses for their videos. To make a DVD playable in a dvd player or ps3, the video file has to be encoded using a different codec. One that doesn't have the extensive compression qualities of the H.264 codec. This combined with a significant increase in bit rate will make for a huge file. I'm thinking I can get away with 20 mins or so of 720p footage on a standard dvd. I'll have to test though.

Yes. I just snooped the specs from youtubes video, and yes, conventional DVD video playback would require a much larger file. DVD video uses mpeg 2, which kinda sucks by todays standards.

Speaking of that, do they even make dvd players that don't also play divx/xvid, mp4, quicktime, etc... anymore?

Haha, I didn't know they could even play divx, etc. I haven't bought/used a normal dvd player in years. If they can play other codecs, burning and HD vid to a DVD is a sinch. I'll have to do some more research. Thanks for the info! :thumb:
