im planning on upgrading my turbo soon and i want to blow up my t-25 for the fun of it. If i run like 27 pounds on it how long will it last? I don't wanna blow up my motor though.

Thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. If you really wanna blow it up then take it out of the car and spray it with starter fluid or something.

Yeah, is really hard to blow up a turbo without risking injury to your motor. Just buy the new turbo and slap it on.

Dude....WHY? I see it like this....what if your new turbo goes?? If you have a working one, even if it's the T25, you can put it back on and have a working car until you get a replacement turbo for the one that was "new" at the time.

But if you REALLY want to blow the turbo, I would suggest you take the oil and coolant lines off and run it at 20psi and go balls to the wall on the highway. Guarantee you won't make it for very long.

Or you could just sell it to a 240sxer for 150 like i did. i tried blowing mine up first too (when i was a noob) and its not gunna happen trust me. Well i guess you could take the oil/coolant lines off, but youl be leaking everywhere?

x2 Yeah, i sold my old 16g to some honda rice kid for $300, it had bent/chipped fins, and the turbine housing was cracked to hell and it sounded like a fire truck siren. ROFL But he thought it was awesome.

Just throw a bolt in there that's too big to get sucked through the turbine.....there you go, BOOM

I really dont wanna use a bolt or spray it with starting fluid, i wanna get my video camera crank the boost WAY up and see how much abuse it will take. I was just wanting to know if it was possible without blowing my motor. The turbo is already leaking oil b/c its cracked so it probably won't be worth anything right now.

dont listen to these people LOL, if you want to blow it up DO IT!! dont max the boost because you will blow up the engine before the turbo goes... just run it without oil or coolant

my man.... LOL i had the same curiosity but i was never able to... even with the wastegate line off...!!!! it pulled like a beast but was never able to....i have kind of a similar problem... LOL i have a spare motor that im dieing to slap on... so im running my car at 20psi with no way to tune and my stock 450's... a week ago i was like this is the day im gonna blow it up... so i disconnected my wastegate line and drove it like that... after i was pulling out of my parking spot.... i noticed a evo a few yards away from me also leaving... so i decided to tag along.... i followed him into the freeway, WERE AS SOON AS HE GOT OFF THE RAMP HE GUNNED IT... it took off but i was like nop not today.!!!!!!! i gunned it too... and im surprised i didnt hit fuel cut...(WEIRD HUH?) ALOT OF PEOPLE SAY I WOULD HIT FUEL CUT INSTANTLY BUT NEVER DID... PAST 25+PSI AT ONE POINT I SAW IT SPIKE OVER 30....(UNLESS MY GAUGE WAS LIEYING I WAS LIKE OMG I MIGHT BE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES.....i gotta say it pulled like no other car ive drove before... im talking about it flew.... i catched up to him so quick i looked on my speedo.. (150/155.. SHEESH... I NEVER THOUGHT MY CAR WOULD EVER REACH THAT FAR..... NEXT THING YOU KNOW... IT STARTED BUCKING AND AS SOON AS I LET OFF MY GAS IT DIED...!!!! i was like :hellyeah: perfect..( now time to put my other motor... so i called my friend to pick me up in his tow truck and i just said i gotta see the damage... i poped the hood and only saw oil every were and my dipstick was out.... i checked the oil and it seemed fine so i put it back in and try to start it.... i was pretty sure it wasnt gonna start... but guess what... (STARTED FASTER THAN I THOUGHT) AND IT PUUUURRRRD LIKE IT NEVER HAD.. i mean it was steady as its never been... so i got in and tried to drive it and VOILA IT RAN LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.... I GOT HOME AND CHECKED FOR SHAFT PLAY OR ANYTHING UNUSUAL IN THE MOTOR AND NOP EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT GOOD... TILL THIS DAY IT HAS BEEN RUNNING SMOOTHLY.... damn man i gotta say these motors are f-ing strong.... (OH BY THE WAY ITS A E316G)

OK NOW FOR YOUR QUESTION... I DONT RECOMMEND BLOWING IT UP.... UNLESS YOU HAVE BACKUP.. IM TALKING ABOUT A SPARE MOTOR AND SPARE TURBO..... JUST HOLD ON TO IT IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH YOUR NEW ONE...!!!!

Like i said my turbo is junk anyway, its not worth anything, and im not a noob to dsm's either.

Okay excuse me when I say this then. Because you most certainly are a veteran.

Point one. If you were a veteran, you would know that anything that breaks off of a turbo/gets sucked in through a turbo, will inexplicably go through your engine as well, thus there is no safe way to blow a turbo.

Point two. Asking how much boost a turbo will blow, and thinking your engine will be fine at that high off boost without a proper tune is not something a veteran would ask. I guarantee you your engine will blow faster than the T-25 will, because those are strong ass turbos.

You are clearly someone who knows all this, though, so i shouldn't bother replying to you. This is a pointless thread.

With that said, weld your waste gate shut. But you already knew that too, right?

I also read you used PVC for intercooler piping. You do understand that it gives off a toxic gas when heated, right? And it also probably leaks like a sieve. But nah, you're good. Enjoy your blown turbo. Drop in a bunch of buck shot into your intake.

Please don't risk destroying your motor just to blow up an ailing turbo. If it is junk anyway, get it off the car before it does damage. As lofty said, if you blow it up, those bits are going to get sucked into your engine and you will not be happy with the end result.

I realize this was a pointless thread , but hey i was bored. I said i wasn't a noob to dsm's, (which im not) but lofty i know im not a veteran either, if i was i wouldnt have posted in the first place. I just wanted to see if i could run 27 pounds of boost to blow up my turbo and i also said i dont wanna blow my motor either. Yep Pvc pipe works and it DOESNT LEAK or even heat up all that much either. Its perfect when your broke like me! :f-u: But i guess since ya'll say its not possible i wll just be smart and take it off now. THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE INPUT

It's not impossible to blow the turbo without completely ruining your engine, but we're just trying to say it isn't worth the chance. It's just not a smart bet that the engine won't blow when the turbo does, especially if you raise the boost.
