Any one have a pic of a awd motor plate (the thin plate in-between the trans and the motor)?Or does any one know what the difference is between a fwd and a awd plate? The reason why i am asking is i just got a 95 awd drive talon today and the motor acted like it was locked up at first, starter wouldn't engage extra, so i tried to turn it over at the crank pulley bolt and it turned, but i noticed a clicking noise like it was dragging on the starter or some thing then i noticed no motor plate, so i checked fwd vs awd part number's and they are different so i am wondering what the difference is.

well on a 1g i assume the 2g will be similar, the fwd starter plate wont work on a awd i have done it, a awd plate on a fwd im not sure. but the differences between the 2 are the position of the starter and its like a spacer so its possible to be dragging the starter gear on the flywheel.

now i am wondering if it has a fwd flywheel or a awd one, do u have to match the plate with the flywheel, do u know buy chance?

you have to match the plate to the trans and nothing else i have been through this problem trust me....

starter plate must match the tranny everything else doesnt matter at all

terminology please.

it would be the flywheel if you have a manual or a flexplate if you have an automatic.

no, its not a starter plate. i would love for you to call your local parts house or dealership and give them this blasphemy.

Don't have a pic but the fwd & awd plates are different. Basically only difference is where the hole is for starter location. Fwd has a larger flywheel diameter vs awd so the starter holes are in slightly different locations in the plate to allow proper placement of the starter in each application.

You get the starter plate to match the bell housing, not the motor.

Thank you all for all you're help, i already ordered a awd plate!I wish people would just put thing back how they got them!

FYI, the auto plate (FWD or AWD or N/T) match the FWD turbo plate. I have one on my FWD turbo car right now. And the n/t manual and AWD manual plate is the same. I have one on my AWD right now.
