Hey all I will be needing to replace my OEM A/C fan with a slim style fan for fitment issues.

Can someone recommend a realible and effective fan? Price is not a big issue, I want the best available to protect my engine.

One more thing. Is the OEM A/C fan a puller, or pusher?

Just use the zip ties that come with it, fits great and has given me no problems. I have been through a lot of other fans and this is by far the best one I have owned.

I used some strap line from pepboys (or any plumbing store) and had them bolted to stock locations.

Ive ran 1600cfm slims from ebay for a long time and never had an issue. Remember the stock fans pull so much more air so if you can utilize at least one of them I would. I run the stocker and replaced my AC fan with the slim and directly wired it into the other fan so if turns on and off with it.

That's what I want to do. Keep the stock engine fan and run a slim AC fan. What size of slim fan where you able to fit on there? I'm hoping to fit a 12" fan.

Looking into the FAL and also the Spal fans - I hear they flow really well.

The FAL fans are very well made and they move some serious air. I have the FAL dual fans. They are extremely thin and lightweight. I don't have cfm numbers but I would say that the FAL's move quite a bit more air than the stock fans.

Wow its hard to believe the FAL or SPAL can move more air with there little fin design. The stock fans move a lot more air than people really think. 1600cfm was the best flowing slim line I could find and it doesnt flow near the stocker.

The FAL #325 dual fan is rated at 2500 cfm. If I am wearing shorts and stepping out of the car while the fan is on I feel hot air from under the car hitting my leg hard. Never really noticed that with the stock fans.

I have the FAL set up, it was pricey compared too two slims fans for less then 130 and 350 for the FAL fan shroud setup.

The unit is extremely well made and I have never had an issue with overheating with those fans installed. And boy do they move air. I also like this shroud design, I had slim fans that I used with these "ziptie" like mounts that go through the radiator, that is a bad idea for a daily driver, miles and miles of vibration ruins the fin and if yuo mount the fan too high, gravity will just pull it down, bending the find.

Its 50% the size of the oem fan so fitting turbos are not problem, the only issue is if you have a j-pipe thats hits the fan. I know when I got the ets fmic the jpipe was not compatible, they do mention this on their website.

Which should I get if I go with the Fal fans.
Shrouded or not?
This is not my daily driver so it won't get the long commutes as others. And also where the turbo goes should I put the pusher or pulled there?? I had my old fans between the radiator and motor.

Damit the more I look the more options I see. I was only planing on buying 1 Fal shrouded fan since my other no name was still ok.
Now I see the mishimoto shrouded kit that comes with 2 slim 12" fans and Aluminum shroud.
I already have the mishimoto radiator.
Again so my question now is 1 Fal or the dual mishimoto kit?? Will the kit fit with my turbo? Yeah I don't know either.

I would pick up 2 slim line fans that flow at least 1200 CFM. Summit racing has alot of options. You can go there if you live by one or order from summitracing.com. I personally run 1 puller and 1 pusher. About 1200 CFM's each. I have the puller in the engine bay on the left side and the pusher on the outside of the radiator on the right side b/c my manifold is too large to fit a fan on the inside. I can maintain 160* temps all day with this setup and a fluidyne radiator and 160* thermostat with about 65% water 35% coolant mix.

2 F A L fans did wonders on my gt4, i am using them again on the tsi they worked that good

Im using 1-14" mishimoto fan and it barely keeps up in summer. I thought thinner and aftermarket is better, but the stockers pull a lot of air. Deff have to buy high flow, which is usually expensive brands to keep up or out do the stockers. Dont under estimate them ever.
