I wanted to compile a list of known working manifolds for the hx35 hx40 and similiar turbos since a lot end up hitting the water pipe and such.

List your exhaust manifold, what turbo housing your using with it and if you're using any spacers and what kind of clearance you have.
I'll go first
hx40
obx r manifold -yep the cheapest imatation works fine
bep .55 housing
no spacers
plenty of clearance between the turbo and water pipe (like 1.25")
no driver side fan, no room for it

Holset HX40, Bullseye Power T3 .70 A/R turbine housing....fits perfectly with the ERL Cast Stainless T3 Manifold- not even close to the block, plenty of water pipe clearance.

Holset he351cw, Revhard manifold, custom downpipe. This manifold holds anything!!! Also it only cost 219$ from revhard

HX-40, BEP bolt on housing, stock 2G exhaust manifold, no spacers.

Had to dent the water pipe a bit, and compressor cover touches the block. It could clear the block by about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch but my lower intercooler pipe would interfere with the front motor mount.

I run the HX-35/WH1C with the FP mani. The bung on the water pipe that was used for coolant to the stock turbo had to be sanded down a little bit because when I clock the compressor cover, it would scrape against the side of the bung. Other than that, it fit like it was meant to be there.

EDIT: on the BEP .55 A/R bolton housing of course

So would the fp race on a 2g fit an hx35 with no problems then?

Have an HX35 with a Bolt on Housing and an SBR cast external wastegate manifold (no spacer). Only had to dent the water pipe a tiny bit, and everything fits nicely even with the stock radiator fan! :)

So it looks like between any of these they would still require some water pipe denting,

Stock 2g
fp
sbr cast

Seems like it might be best to stick with the stocker?

Any other thoughts on this? Still trying to decide on what manifold to go with, or stay with the stocker.

I recently switched to an FP manifold. And like most have said it puts it in the same spot as the stocker. Still would need some denting to make it fit. Looks just like my picture above.

Could you guys also include how you're gating them, and any clearance issues with that?

I'm about to go HX35 myself and am still undecided on the housing/manny, and how I want to gate it. This is a great thread BTW. Glad to see this one specific topic get it's own space.

Dont bother with an internal gate.

I already have an hx35, .55ar bep housing, tial WG, PR o2 housing.

It seems it isnt really worth it to buy a new exhaust manifold at least for me, so i will probably stay with the stock 2g (ported a bit) for now.

Mine is externally gated off the o2 housing. I used an ebay stainless o2 housing, then cut out a section for an ebay 38mm gate. I had a clearance issue with the alternator so I relocated it to the back. $10 to relocate the alternator, $70 for the wastegate, $70 for the housing, $60 for the welding. Still cheaper than just a Tial wastegate alone.

WH1C in .55 BEP Housing.

Stock Manifold.

1G NT Waterpipe, Dented little.

3" O2 Housing with 46mm WG, Alternator Relocated, 3/8" clearance not relocated.

The BEP .55 moves the exhaust forward 3/8-1/2", added extra flange in front of Cat-Back to compensate.

anyone know of someone running a turbonetics t3 flange mani with a hx35 with the stock t3 housing? clerance issues?

It will not clear the water pipe or block. Needs at least a 1/2 spacer to work. Just figured that out, yay for wasting a week of waiting for a manifold that won't work. :barf:

i mocked mine up on my friends spare block with his hx35 and my turbonetics mani. it looked like if you put a 1/2" spacer between the mani and the turbo it would fit perfect

and a t3 flange is easy to come but and 4 longer studs arent hard to find either
