Stainless coolant lines necessary?

So i just took off my E316g and im putting on a PTE 6052 t4 and i was wondering do u think it would be a big deal if i just used rubber coolant feed/return lines?? or do u think going stainless steel will really be worth it? prob been debated b4 but can't find any good threads on it so just looking for ## opinions thanks.

Just use the rubber coolant line as that's what it's used for. Unless you want to got for some "bling" then you could buy some fitings and thread the pipes.

I'd upgrade them if their worn. They possibly might be 12 years old but if their fine, i guess you'd be safe.

I'm definetly goin to upgrade them just wanted to know whether i should upgrade cheap w/ rubber or go expensive with the stainless steel. i'm leaning toward just using the rubber ones.

Stainless lines for the coolant feed and drain would mean no leaks as long as it is properly tightened. Rubber ones can crack or melt due to heat and time. Another option is something similar to SS. Push lock. IMO, a little sturdier then regular coolant lines and can be easily swapped if something does happen to them. Middle ground if you will.

I would say when you have it all apart like this, just do anything that you can't do easily down the road.

So I vote stainless.

If you're on such a tight budget, wait a bit and buy what you really want (and may potentially need). Rubber is pretty good, but you can't get much better than stainless.

i agree with u completely, im actually not on a tight budget at all i just didn't really want to have to thread the thermostat and water pipe for the ss line an fittings. but thanks for the info everyone

Tapping something may seem like quite a chore, but once you do it a few times (correctly!), you will see it's really not a problem.

I would rather spend 10 minutes tapping something now than an hour taking it all apart to replace a rubber line down the road.
