Hey everyone,
I've had my 90 eclipse for about 2 years now, and have done repair after repair on it going by my Haynes manual and general car knowledge.
The next item on my fix list, however, is a bit of an engineering task beyond me...

I can only guess as to what's wrong with the AC.
It blows, but has no cooling.
I'm hoping for a quick checklist to run through or something, and I'm really hoping it's as simple as pouring some freon in, but a good idea of what I should do would really help me out.

Connect the gauges to it and see if you have any freon. If it is completely empty I would suggest putting UV dye back in it and checking for leaks. The seal behind the clutch on the compressor is where most leaks occur. If that is the case you will have to replace it. Start there and then get back to us.

Does the pulley clutch on the compressor click when you push on the climate button? It could be a simple case that the connection to the compressor could be undone..or the AC fuses that are in the black box next to the driver's shock tower have blown.

Also, how long have you had your DSM? For if you only had it in the two years, the previous owner could have bottomed out the front end by hitting a curb or similar which pushes up that front crossmember where the radiator and condensor are mounted on. If that crossmember gets pushed up, it "folds" up the condensor, cracking the seams to where it loses all of the freon through the small cracks and a new condensor is needed - after the body shop straightens out that crossmember..

This is one common weak spot on the 1G's (and maybe on the 2G's as well..) when they do get bottomed out since our rides are low to the ground.

Good luck trying to stay cool .. - DSM

Cut your losses (and, ours). Take it to an independent shop that deals with AC service. It may be as simple as needing a charge (good luck finding that Freon), a belt, an adjustment, or a leak, or it may be as complex as a failed compressor, clutch, or even the AC control unit (which has not been made for about five years now).
