I decided to finally do something about the lack of center caps on my wheels.

I cut these on my CNC lathe from aluminum.

I've got some inserts coming for the center relief, but this how they turned out.

They are held by an o-ring which acts as a lock against the back edge of the wheel.

I didn't really have to write a CAM program.

The controller has some wizards, so it's just a matter of filling in some fields and pressing "run" :)

Wow, it looks really good. Now all it needs is a Mitsubishi symbol in the middle. :)

or another one of choice.

I have two inserts coming.

One is a carbon fiber "look" and the other is the red tri-star.

I'll see which combination looks best.

Wow those look amazing. Those look like they were professionally done

Props to you for doing that. My 18's are also lacking center caps. I was thinking of eventually making a trip to NTB or Discount Tire to see if they had sexy center caps for sale. But I mean, If you can make more of these... I would be willing to get them :D

I had a go at this a few years ago, a month or so before the first transformers. I wanted something different. Just thought id show yall my attempt at center caps.. Enjoy

Man I wish I would have seen this a month ago, I could have made some at work good idea. They look great, good job.

Transformers idea is very cool. I have been thinking of a half deceptacon/ half autobot kind of image. Isn't there a little bit of both in all of us and our cars? LOL

you could also just have two of each. it would easy to produce and would be cheaper to make

Im guessing your talking to me about machine specs.. My shop has 2 Haas vf3s & 1 haas sl30... we also have a few manual machines. We do alot of oilfiedld work(ROV parts, down hole tools, stuff like that). I can make anything you can think of, but i just dont really have the time for it. As for the colors, my caps are just polished aluminum. You could anodize them. That would be nice.

Can you make me some center caps that will fit my front rims on my rotas? They have to be deep though since the threads on the axle stick out kind of far.

To the OP sorry to steer your thread away from its original purpose, showing off you nice looking center caps.
I think that yours look nice and clean like they came that way.
Waylon, thanks for taking my criticism like an adult.
Because I am not not knocking your craftsmanship at all, if you made some Talon or even some Chrysler ones for a laser it would be awesome!
You do good work.

Sorry Hal for stealing your thread. I didnt mean it, just wanted to show you my try at it. You did a great job on some true HOMEMADE caps. What kind of lathe you have? Is it a home built lathe?
For all you sending me PMs sorry i just dont have time to make any for yall atm(single dad recently divorced). Thanks for the compliments. Sorry again

It's a Harbor freight bench top lathe that I converted to CNC
