may not be in the right forum but does anyone know of a clear timing cover or something like the covers for the 4g63's i really like those and just seeing if anyone know of anything like like for the 420a:confused:

theres nothing like that for the 420a yet.

motor is already out...send me pics of what you did i want something that looks cool and not like i did it in my garage one night if you know what i mean

as of now you could go two ways to see your cam gears.... first, you could completely remove you timing cover! the problem with that is that it leaves your belts exposed to anything that wants to jump up onto it! the other thing that you could do is cut the timing cover in half just under the cam gears (like i did). this way you get all the protection that the cover provides while still being able to see the cam gears. to do that however, you would have to remove all the pulleys and belts to be able to get to the half of the cover thats closer to the block! im not sure but im almost surtain you would have to pull the motor to do all this because the motor mount attaches to the block through the timing cover!:dsm:

You do NOT have to remove the motor to get the rear timing cover off but you do need to pull all the belts off

anyone know where to get an outer timing cover for the 420a. sorry for the bump, but i cant find it no where.

There has been no clear timing cover fo the 420a's yet.
Maybe this can be posted in the vendor section to have vendors start making some for the 420a guys.

Awakening a dead thread...

i have been waiting for something like this for the 420a as well...
a year later and still no one makes it.

My question is how different are the actual cam sprockets and such between the two?
i was thinking about getting the 4g63 one and fabbing it up to work on the 420a.

i know the 4g63 cover is 3 pieces whereas the 420a is only 2 pieces (front and back).
But if you cut the 420a cover right, would it be possible to fab it and mount it on the 420a?

Can you do Acrylic Joshua? I think these guys would love to be able to see their components.

Yep. I hate pulling the upper tab everytime I want to check the condition of my belt. Also when I get some custom cam gears I'd like to show em off a bit at the shows. :sneaky:

I have a mold of the 4G63 not a 420a so if I can make one for the 4g63 if someone wants to send me an upper cover for a 420 I could prob repeat the process.

If I can pull off a clear acrylic one how many people would be interested in one and what would you be willing to pay or what would be a fair price?
That's the problem: I'm not sure there's enough interest these days to make it worth your effort. But if you don't mind making a small run, more power to you!

Zacklee is the company who made the clear timing covers. I talked to them years back about making one for a 420a engine and it would have been expensive to make. Would be nice to have an option for a 2 piece outer cover where you could just pop the top off to check or adjust gears etc. I'm thinking with todays technology someone could probably 3d print a cover. But is there really a high demand for it these days?

Now that you guys are talking about fab covers, wondering of a complete front clear cover of the timing belt, so this way we can check for loose parts, leaks without removing the lower cover and even saying we can sure verify the timing marks when we are troubleshooting.
