So after all my talk about them, here they are.

First four pix have the Evo 8 on the left, Evo 9 in the middle, and Evo 10 on the right.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, there's roughly about a half inch difference between the Evo 8/9 pumps and the Evo 10 pump. I will post up measurements later. I thought I had them with me.

This next one shows the Evo 10 on the left, Evo 9 at center, and Evo 8 on the right.

Evo 8 @ left, Evo 9 center, Evo 10 @ right for the last picture. Notice at about the 7 & 8 o'clock area on the Evo 10 pump there are two ripples or indentations on the moulding. Perhaps another way to easily identify it. I also spotted with both my Evo 9 and 10 pumps a very slight teal color to them, partially faded on both. I also hear that others have Evo 9 pumps in gold.

So I've been running the Evo 8 pump for about 2 years now. I decided to upgrade it because of the larger turboa nd higher boost I'm currently running. I knew the Evo 9 pump would swap right in, but I wanted to see if I could easily install my 10 pump instead.

I decided to use one of those cheap-o light things I got at CVS so you can see a tiny bit better as to where the end of the nozzle is (in relation to where it should be).

And here is a side view.

These next two I decided to put the pump closer to the nozzle's OEM location. It sits well off its lower braket and rubber base.

These last two I decided to install the spacer, o-ring, and o-ring cap to see how close it was. Wouldn't even seal up. Roughly about a half a millimeter away.

To make it work, I suppose I could use a worm clamp to secure the pump, and use some other type of material to make up for the space in between the pump and the side of the braket, but I'm not interested in doing that at this time. Maybe in the future I'll look more into it.

And to quickly answer those of you who I told I would post up flow results, all I can say is I'm getting there. I would really like to also test the three amigos (Wallys 190, 255, & 255HP) at the same time, but I just don't have the funds right now to do the testing (hint, hint). Also, I would need some donated (aka just borrowing) Wallys to do so. Surely you don't think I would purchase brand new Walbro pumps just to do a few simple tests, did you?

So if you're willing to help aid me in this process, please email (not PM) me.

Just for a quick reference for those of you looking for graphs, here are two links I've got for you.

Hey good thread, I've been waiting on your write up on this..

Time to add a new tech article soon ;)

I was running an EVO 8 pump, then found out about that relief valve at a certain point, so I swapped over to the 9. It was a straight forward swap.

Very interesting research you have going on here! I wish you had posted this earlier though. I JUST installed my Walbro 255lph on Friday night and have already dropped in the assembly =/

But why would you have wanted an Evo instead? You just dropped in a pump that flows more than all the stock Evo pumps

Also, some good info in this thread. Thanks for putting some time into this and posting it up!

^^^ I think the point is that you can upgrade your small OEM pump to another quality, higher flowing OEM Denso unit for sometimes as low as $40. That Bosch sells for just under 200.

The benefits of using certain OEM pumps over Walbros have already been numerously discussed.

Haha I didn't want to trade for the Evolution fuel pump.. the OP stated that he wanted to borrow other fuel pumps for comparison testing. Anywayyy, it looks like AMS did all the work already LOL.

ROFL eh, oh well. Its funny how reading something can be interpreted two entirely different ways.

Haha miscommunication/misinterpretation at its best =] Good times man! I'm surprised that the Denso Supra fuel pump wasn't tested either.

I did some searching, but didn't really find anything that suited me........What all would I need / or change to make this work properly and safely? Would I just be better off to get a wally 190? Thanks.

I installed an evo8 pump in my 1g which is same size(38mm) as evo9, while 1g pump is 50mm. I just needed to trim the rubber piece under the pump a bit. Also change the connectors to plug into the pump. Be sure to get the evo prefilter as 1g will not fit. It was a very simple install
