why cant i find any magazines strictly for DSM's. you know like how honda has one. i came a long way from honda to my new found friend the DSM. i would like to keep learning on DSM's but cant seem to find the materials. can anybody turn me to the right direction?:banghead:

Its because the DSM scene is dying out. The Evo took over the DSM's place years ago. The reason you see so many Civic Mags is because the Civic is the tuner's "icon" car. People may think they may look cool (which i have scene some great looking Civics), but they take stupid money to make fast plus an engine swap to get close to 200HP. No thanks, ill stick with my DSM.

Every time I pick up a tuner mag, it's 75% honda. I'll give credit where credit is due, honda has some stout platforms but how many times can you see the same B18 swapped civic clone and say "WOW, check that out!". Every honda guy in my town has the same black EJ civic with black wheels and a B16 or B18. Whenever I find a mag with a DSM I snatch it up quick. I'd love to see a mag dedicated to the ORIGINAL 4g63.

well i seriously cant agree that dsm's are dying out. yes the EVO made a big impact. but at least we have the original 4G63. you take a GSX and build the 4G63 and you got an EVO. and its way cheaper. this guy in a trans am wanted to run my RS last night just because it looked fast. so we already know we look fast. i think we should put these moron out of there misery for good. im tired of hearing about honda's and EVO's. this is a DSM world.:hellyeah:

I don't care about us being publicized or not. Every Thursday night at the track I'm making $200+ off ignorant honda and muscle owners who don't see our cars in magazines. I kind of like it that way.

well then dont knock the hustle. keep shoving that DSM logo in their windshield. maybe they will catch on. LOL!:thumb:

hondas are just way too popular..

but lets keep it that way i dont want a car that everyone else has

i know what you mean though, i buy any magazine that has a DSM in it.. its just becoming way too rare now but everything you need to know is right here on this site. Magazines arent really that informative anymore anyways

I've been thinking about that for a couple of years, yes it would be nice, like super chevy, fast fords and even mopar has there owm magazine. I for one would definately supscribe to it. It would be kewl like the 5.0 mag has there babe of the month. BTW all the above mentioned are outstanding magazines. I can't stand sports compact car mag but I have like every issue since 1997, force of habit, waiting for a DSM article, but I like the other mags about compact cars even less. Motor Trend and the bunch are great mags but it's mostly on newer stuff.
The good points I think of a DSM magazine would be, most true DSMers are not ricey we love road race and the 1/4 mile. I think it would be awesome. See some awesome resto work, I could keep going.

We do not have the ORIGINAL 4G63, and the Evo didn't come and replace us. The Evo existed before us and as expected it exists after us. We borrowed the Evo III and Evo IV thru VII motor. So we owe our existence to the Evo, and it just took MMA too damn long to bring it over.

With that said, rally wise, the Evo blows us out the door, but a GSX is designed to be fast, shape and all, it's lighter, sleeker and more sporty, so I wish MMA would realize this and bring back an AWD Eclipse.

Anyways, a DSM magazine would not be profitable so it will never happen.

The tel platform was released in the us for the 1990 model year. The lancer evolution replaced the galant vr4 platform as the homogolized wrc platform in 1993. They weren't first. They aren't the fastest either, dsm's own about all of the 4 cylinder drag records. Evo's are overweight (after the 3) and no where near as sexy as a dsm. Actually the evo 3 is the last evo to use a dsm compatible engine and transmission layout. From the 4 onward the engine was mounted on the passenger side.

If you want to get technical it was first introduced in 1983 in the Chariot. Either which way it is not OUR motor, it existed before us and after us.

I also would like to see a GSX handle the rigors of rally, never said it was a faster car.

Our cars are not as popular as Hondas.

I see lots of EVO's inside magazines and ads.... It would be cool if there was a DSM mag though

It's not about what platform is more popular. That is not the issue here. The issue is that DSMer's don't build their cars to the level that most Honda guys do, therefore DSM's don't receive the attention. To give credit where credit is due then look at the DSM's who have been in a magazine-- very few. MLopez, the gunmetal Talon in Canada, the red 1g with the Shearer parts on it, and I guess Gixxerdrew is going to be in a magazine soon. Their cars are magazine worthy. If there were more cars like Drew's and Mario's then I'm sure the magazines would feature them, but there aren't.

I dont know, i think its because we dont put 10K paint jobs and 5k in chrome dress up items under the hood like honda's do. I have seen sooooo many honda's that look like they just got off the race track and have crazy kits and paint and then pop the hood and its a stock POS.

What is there to put in a magazine? It's not like we ever swap our motors out for anything. The only swap is a 7-bolt to a 6-bolt. Yeah, there are a lot of performance parts, but any body changes to a DSM and it's instantly "ricer". So, it really wouldn't have the backing of the body & appearance companies. Our cars aren't quite old or rare enough to need full restorations like the Mustangs.

So what's left? How to change your brake like to SS. How to roll your fenders.
It might be nice to see racetracks around the country.

This site has all the answers a magazine would give. The blogs section reads like a grocery list of "readers rides".

You want the big builds, we got 'em. Little DIY VFAQs, got those too. While it might be nice to have something to read in class, or occupy us while we take a poo, this site is like a free subscription to the greatest DSM magazine that will ever be made. :hellyeah:

And a laptop and wireless router make it so you could read the site and take a poo if you really wanted. :thumb:

actually for those of us on iphones this site runs perfect on them.....except the typical slowness of the site....but I view and post frequently from my phone! And yes just about every question imaginable has been answered on this site somewhere at least 3 times LOL

Wow, I have not seen a post that made as much sense as this one. Good point dude :thumb:

Just like a few of the guys mentioned, DSM's are for go NOT show. We build our cars to have real raw power and go fast not to go up and down, or lights, or body kits. Most of the cars in the mags have expensive paint jobs, so ( which i dont care much for) instead of a 5-10k paint job i can add another 200 hp to my car for that much. Most of them have body kits, but we DSMer's dont care much for them because our cars look good the way they are. Most of the mags make their business with Show then Go cars, but DSM's are first for GO then if extra money laying around then we can make a SHOW car.

No kidding. My only fault for a lot of those magazines is they seemed more concerned with going fast, rather than stopping fast. I dunno about you, But I wanna eventually stop when I get going fast. Nother better, than "Oh, Look, what a pretty wreck."
