So my DSM is down right now, but to get it back up and running I need some type of transportation for the time being so I can work. Well my cousin is hooking me up with a Dodge truck from 2003 for only $700!!! Don't know much about it other then that its a 03' Dodge pickup truck, but then again I don't really care, it's only $700.:D

Rolling shell.. (with the vin numbers scratched off)

Well its actually a 2000 Ford Ranger. And the guy bought it for 400 bucks with a broken windshield, and bad battery(he fixed already). Well it is a gamble i'm taking on the 700 but what if it does me good, then this would be great. its also pretty dinged up, but its only a temporary car until I get my Talon engine rebuilt. And man am I excited about the rebuild imma do on my TSi!!!

Well it was a deal brought upon my mom and she told me it was a 2003 Dodge. I didnt care at all about the year, make, blah blah, its only 700 remember. So I go to look at the truck and its a little Ford Ranger pickup, it doesn't matter to me as long as it gets me through these next 3-4months so I can do the rebuild on my car I don't care. And as far as the remark about the rollover, I really don't know about that, when I said dinged I meant just a few like 2-3 minor dents.

Did you have the vehicle faxed? Or atleast VIN Inspection. I purchased a running and driving 98 Eclipse for 500 bucks and only did a car fax on the vin number off the dash. It checked out!!! A year later it came up stolen. The owners took a year to claim it stolen. The Title, I don't even know how they pulled it off but I had a title and the vehicle was registered in my name. I ended up loosing the car, after spending an hour or so in a holding cell and I got most of my mods off of it, minus the built motor and wheels.

We just got a '97 foundonroaddead F250 extended cab with a shell on it, 87k miles, mint with full service for $100. Company liquidations are great. :D

Yeah, I just bought it yesterday and went to the DMV today early and had small complicaions so I cant actually get it home till monday.

And Vanilla Gorilla thats exactly how I see it.

Well, when he(seller) bought the car he never went to the DMV to change the title over to his name. So he gave me the title from when he had purchased it, and he bought it from a company. So I go to the DMV and the lady says do you have a bill of sale??? I was like no I bought it from someone on the street, and she said well that may be the case but here it says its a company so either get a bill of sale or pay a much higher tax. So I got the bill of sale from the other company, but can't go 'till monday since tomorrow is sunday.{BREATH}

Holy crap!! Well would they say something there or in the long run?? Because the lady said I dont care who you got it from, just get a Bill of sale then you can get it. Now I don't want to go and do anything illegal you know. I wonder if the Bill of sale would be enough for this to be considered legal? Well I'll find out Monday morning.

Skipped titles are illegal.

I unknowingly did this one time, when I bought a car to sell. I even transfered insurance from one of my other vehicles to it, so that I could drive it to town to park it where it could be seen.

That sucks. The DMV may be closed Monday, it's a holiday. I know the post offices and I think banks are closed.

My skipped title story.

I had the same problem with my current DSM. The guy I bought the car from owned it for 3 years. It sat in his backyard (field) not running the whole time. Therefore, he never registered it in his name. He got it from the Jeep dealership he worked at from an individual that brought the car in to have some work done. The work to be performed ended up costing too much in his eyes and relinquished the title to the dealership. My buddy knew the guy that bought it and informed me that he wanted 1k for the car. I went a looked at it and decided to buy it. That night I towed it home. Long story short I ended up selling the car to my buddy for the same 1k I bought it for. He did nothing with it and it sat for another year. I ended up buying it back from him for the same 1k that I sold it to him for.

I ended up looking at the title at this point and it still had the original owner's name on the title signed over waiting for a buyer's signature. I had no bill of sale. Without a bill of sale from the original owner I would have to either get a bill of sale or hire a lawyer to get a "quiet title" so that I could register it. I ended up contacting the original owner ;) and acquired a bill of sale. I ended up having to pay for back property taxes to the date that he had signed over the title originally (4 years worth). A small price to pay for my DSM.
