just a side note one of the purposes of having an exhaust is to

1. free up the flow
2. get rid of the bends!

from what i saw on those pictures making it come out the side behind the door completely disregards #2

This reminds me of my first 1g (way back in 1999). I know this my sound childish or stupid, but side exit exhaust was a mod that made you feel good driving the car. Hearing the turbo whistle, the loud exhaust note when you got into the throttle. I think side exhaust is still cool, just not something I'd do now that I'm older. Still I think it's good to see people are still into this mod.

Cant do that stuff here in ohio get in big trouble. though i have open downpipe to turndown.ROFL. i personaly dont like the tone of a bullet muffler. sounds to much like a fartcan

Alright guys, I've been looking all over for this picture, I've seen it around, but it's impossible to find it now.
I've tried searching for about an hour now.

Where is that picture of the black 1g with the exhaust molded into the front bumper?
That's all I need.

Thanks guys.

or look at evil_eagle's car as well. same setup though (close, 4".)

Why do they do that?
Just for the look or what?

Faster spoolup for sure, more power depending on the setup. I've got a 3" electric cutout welded into my DP right below the o2 housing, which would provide basically the same effect of having a short open exhaust like this one. When it's open my turbo hits harder, and 4-500rpm earlier. I don't flow any more peak lb/min with it open than I do through my exhaust, but I'm hitting that peak flow almost 1Krpm earlier. If I had a bigger turbo (currently an Evo31g) I'm sure I'd be flowing more with it open...the E3 just runs out of steam too early in general for the cutout to have any benefit at upper rpms.

I am planing on doing a side dump exhaust out right infront of the drivers side rear tire. I have not seen many off these before. Anyone got some pics?

I dont have any pics behind the front tire, I have a few 2gs with it before it coming out the bumper cover but Im assuming that wont help much. Im hoping that you realize how loud its going to be and probably very annoying. This isnt on a DD is it?

I think it would be fine on a track car, but not a dd. I'd recommend sending it out the passenger side though, probably a little less noisy inside the car. If it's a dd, and part of what you want is the look of it and to scare people at lights, a good solution would be an electronic exhaust cutout. Just flip the switch as you roll up to the light next to the riced out civic. Should shut them up in a hurry. :thumb:

Again, the question arises if it will be a DD, because if it is, you will be pulled over immediately for noise violation. So, with that in mind, I would put a thing in there that could allow you to switch from your side exhaust to rear exhaust, and have your rear exhaust hidden underneath.

If it is for track, that would look sweet!
