Im not sure what that number is but here is the number breakdown for 16G's:

49178-01(40)0: 14B
49178-01(41)0: Big 16G
49178-01(42)0: Big 16G
49178-01(45)0: Evo I Big 16G
49178-01(46)0: Evo II Big 16G
49178-01(47)0: EVO III 16G

49178-01(52)0: Small 16G

The number I got from bbl group off of there Evo 3 GT is 49178-01. That might be an ebay part number that I cant find at the moment.

Here's a link with upclose pictures of an EVO III GT

Do you have any pics or description of any other markings on it? a real MHI 16g will not say EVO, 16G, or DSM on it it should say TD05H on the housing and 49178-01470 like this :

The 49178-01410 turbos are 14B's, also. I have more than one at my shop.

The GT Concepts Evo III that is built by Turbochargers.com is on the same page as the MHI Evo III 16G. Early GT's had trouble with turbine wheels snapping off, but supposedly the newest ones have remedied this problem. All of the GT Concepts 16G's parts are interchangeable with MHI parts.

The eBay 16G's are in a realm of their own. They cannot be rebuilt with a MHI parts kit, cannot use MHI compressor / turbine wheels, and in some cases you can't even use MHI housings on the eBay 16G's as the wheels aren't the same size as a true MHI turbo. They shouldn't even wear the badge "16G".

The eBay 16G's are distinguished by a big rectanglular badge on the compressor cover displaying the part number. They look nothing like a MHI or GT Concepts turbo. They also feature an adjustable wastegate arm, which is not found on a MHI or GT Concepts turbo:

^Don't worry about the model number. It's an ebay 16g, and it's already got some compressor wheel damage.

Buy a new turbo.. that one is already fugged up. Sorry man... but wheel damage is no good. On an ebay turbo will only make it less reliable.

It came with the Car I bought for scrap parts and the owner Boasted bout it being an Evo III 16g Turbo.. Where do you see damage, because I am trying to sell it off.. But I would like to be honest with the buyer and not lie to like I had been..

I zoomed in on that photo.. Is this what you are saying are damaged??

Yeah that's damage...could be worse but it's only going to get worse. Save a few bucks and buy a spare 14b so your not down for to long if your strapped for cash.

Ya, It sucked in something that it shouldn't have - all those nicks on the leading edge of the higher turbine blade with one blade actually not straight...

..and their's one blade in the upper shadows that really took a hit .. take a more close to that upper one...

..and love how the compressor outlet is bolted to the compressor via allen screws....

Haha.. I was actually wanting a bigger one for my car then this one.. Was just selling original owners mods to pay off the loan to get car.. Can this piece be replaced??

Ahh.. Thanks for the heads up.. I really have no clue what that kid was thinking when he put this together.. No wonder the motor went out on him LOL..

but yes, that is a bit of damage.

it will not only hurt performance. but throw the balance outta whack (which ebay turbo's aren't balanced...) and will ruin the seals and thrust washer/bearing faster.... would be better to just replace it asap... even if it HAS to be with a NEW ebay turbo.. its better than what you have.:thumb:

take off that compressor housing. it will give you an idea of how TORE up the blades are... especially the part you can't see of the blades with the cover on.

if i showed you the pics of the T-25 i had that sucked something inside of it you would probably cry... LOL... that thing ate something bad.. LOL

Thanks again for everyones incite.. Dont worry.. Im not using any of these parts on this car except the tranny.. And its gonna be shipped off and rebuilt before I even do that.. LOL..

Ya, get you a genuine B16G turbo from one of the above vendors and place that knockoff POS in a box, set it by the curb with the words "FREE" on it and see how many "mini-ricers" jump on this. :D LOL
I'll take the turbine housing and wastegate actuator if it's free. Those parts can be used to breathe life back into old MHI turbos with cracked housings.

Other than that, it's bound for a scrapyard.
