cars are the only thing that someone will pay 80+k for and beat up. most people that spend that kind of money on things put it in a glass case.:notgood:

But WHAT BS! I mean I agree. At 80k and with that pedigree of GT-R I'd expect over-engineering so that the car will take a TON of abuse at unmodified stock levels.
 
Okay ppl lets be practical how many times can you launch a DSM with 500hp 34 times consecutively in one day? I bet you you not much.

Secondly this is a 3800lb car 34 launches is ALOT consecutively.

You guy guys think this is expensive? I bet you the people who buy them don't.
 
Think about it.

1990 had a junk drivetrain, 22 spline t-case, single syncro 1-2, 3 bolt rear end
mid 1991 it got a bit better
mid 1992 it got a bit better

At least we didn't have to pay almost 100k to wait 3 years until it was safe to buy one.

I have no idea what I'm trying to prove. I guess nothing, ignore me.
 
Good thing DSM trannies don't cost $20k, we'd all be screwed.
 
Doesn't matter if it's 3800 pounds. They should have designed the drivetrain to handle the power and weight properly.

Seriously, I love the suspension, I love the axles, I LOVE the engine, the rest of the truck is absolute junk. Regardless, I was power sliding it around rainy corners today. Ever powerslide a house? Amazing...

You race your car? 20 hard ass launch full blown acceleration 230F fluid temps ? Expect it to act like one which requires pit stops, dissassmbling after race days stuff like this doesn't it like and launching a 3800lb car that has tons of grip that will wreck just about everything. Where are you ? Yes that's right DSM tuners you should know better.

They simply put turn off the active system and break the car on launch control and your warranty is void they are being smart now it's nothing new like marking a vehicles vin from racing abuse so it doesn't get warranty service.


350z's G35's all of them my friend replaced his 4 times beating the living hell out of his car the dealer was changing it for him though.

HOLY CRAP, I tried to argue that point on another forum. Somebody finally agrees. I figured I wouldn't get into it here simply because 95% of the people on the other forum expect these cars to be indestructable.
 
haa No one said they should be indestuctable...but It should not break after a month. Shit My car is 12 years old and has 123,000 miles...STOCK tranny and stock internals. I have Launched it Hundreds of times. According to you guys it should break every day huh?

Maybe the guy was rough on the car...but come on...If they don't want you to use the VDC then why have a switch for it?!?!?!

Nissan has always been junk IMO...whats new? Thats why they switched their name from DATSUN LOL....Thats a Datsun GTR ROFL.... If I had the Money I'd buy a vett. Why don't those break after each run like you suggest???

And Yes I have driven the new 2009 Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel Dually. And let me just say I go to a truck pull at Yankee lake in Ohio...and guess what wins the tug of war EVERYTIME??? a DODGE RAM.
They must not have that bad of a tranny.
90% of the time the RAM wins cause the Chevy or ford its Pullin Snaps a drive shaft or some other failure. I have seen it happen 100 diffrent times. YET I have NEVER seen a RAMs tranny fail....I HEAR about their trannys being NO GOOD, but never saw actual PROOF.

What about the 255 mph Bugatii Veyron? It weights 4200 pounds has a 1000 horsepower W16 QUAD Turbo and its AWD ROFL I'm sure those break every day huh? Im sure Bugatii didn't FORSEE someone "racing their car" hahaha...If you have the Balls to make quote "SUPERCAR"....then make it fu*king "SUPER".

It's Not rediculous to expect Performance out of a performance car?!?!?! Nissan has to expect people are going to abuse these cars.

Maybe this guy was exssesive...but nissan should at least cover it ONCE under warranty...if it happens again...then tell the guy to get lost.

First off, do you have 500hp? How about do you have an automatic transmission with a transbrake? Do you know what a transbrake is and why you shouldn't keep launching your car off of it over and over, hot lapping? Even though the GT-R is a Automatic style Manual, how do you think the launch control puts enough of a load on the engine to be able to build boost the way it does? Something in there is going to keep slipping, keep heating up, and you will bust the crap out of it. I doubt these transmissions are made out of glass and fairy farts. Problem is, you're getting too many people that have too much money that don't know how to drive these cars. Doesn't mean you can't rag on them, just means you've got to know your limits. Race cars NEED rebuilding a LOT, this isn't any different.

My ram has 168,000 miles on it's first transmission and I haul a LOT with it, but I know the tranny has its limits and I know how to keep it going. However, a lot of people will break these trannies at 100,000 miles give or take. They don't watch their temps, they tow like HELL with the overdrive on and they put a lot of pressure on it that the tranny just can't take because the engine produces too much torque for it at that level.

Either way, you take the money you will never have for one of these cars and buy a Vette you will never be able to afford anyway.:thumb:

How can you compare a "race car" that's less than $100k to buy, vs a car that was $2.5 million to build? Veyron will still have it's problems, but it's going to be built with a few better parts and a little better care.
 
seems as if the gtr's have a few problems they have to fix because those statistics you posted op are ridiculous.

Nekoni you should sell your DSM and go put a down payment on a GTR since they're so awesome. You can drive it around NICE and easy, as per the owners manual....

what your still not getting is that its the trans brake killing the transmission, if you knew what a transbrake was or how it worked you would know that it kill just about ANY tranmission its used on rather quickly, which is why nissan voids the warranty if theres any damage caused from using it
 
I know what a transbrake is bro....and MY point is WHY make the car able to do that Function if it is going to break the car/ void the warranty? seems like a failure on Nissans part.

Lets see if Nissan Corrects the problem...The guy said there is OTHERs in the same boat he is in....HMM sounds like the beginings of a RECALL to me :)
