-Can only launch the car 15 times before the transmission gives out. The most Nissan has got was 34 launches.
-The fluid lists at 80 dollars a quart. It costs dealerships 49.99 a quart. The car takes 10 quarts.
-The warranty depends on the driving, there is a black box in it just like an airplane.
-Customers have to sign a waiver stating they will not complain about brake or transmission noise.
-The brakes MUST be replaced at the same time, cost for replacing 6500.
-If something goes wrong other than an oil change at the dealership, a special team needs to be called and your outta a car for a while.

And check out this poor fellow
do not launch your gtr or take the vdc off - NAGTROC - The Nissan GT-R Owners Club

Man. That's crazy. I wish him the best of luck. This is going to be horrible PR news once this gets out more.

I didnt read the whole thing but by the looks of it hes a little b****, he spent what $80,000+ on that car and now hes complaining about the money repair costs, this isnt a honda course parts are gonna be expensive, anyway its a new car if he didnt drive like a jackass and showoff every second he could he wouldnt have most of these problems.

That sucks $20k for a tranny? He should just buy a new car.

this is a bunch of BS, why would nissan make a car with the hype of the gtr and use that weak of a tranny, and this is like amonth old discussion on most forums

Sounds like he ran with it off all the time.
You're supposed to use VDC like Nitrous, sparingly.
So I'm guessing he was showing off a lot going OOOH I HAVE A GT-R.
I ROFL at him because my car cost the same amount of money it takes to fill his tranny fluid.
Also, taken from the manual it's clearly stated.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
DAMAGE, FAILURES OR CORROSION DUE TO
ACCIDENTS, MISUSE OR ALTERATIONS
This warranty does not cover damage, failures or corrosion
resulting from:
Operating the vehicle with the Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) off, except when rocking vehicle when stuck in
mud or snow (see GT-R Owner's Manual).

The techs probably saw that he was beating it to shit in the black box, and just said "Haha fck you!"
Although I disagree with this, it is stated in the warranty.

HAHA I cant belive this. But the porsche's Corvettes are "super cars" and they dont have weak transmissions. But if you got 80k to burn you should know that it isnt going to be cheap fixing it when your showing off.

Completely untrue. There are a couple GTR's down here that straight be beat on and they run just fine. From road racing to just tearing up the street's on the east side. They have been launches well over 34 times LOL.

Nissan: HEY AMERICANS! We got a car for you! 3.5 0-60 times and supercar kiiler! BUT you cant use it like that! ITS ONLY 80K!

piss me of >: (

I still want a EVO tho :D

I hope its just a one case thing because for a 80k car I would have expected every part to last whatever you throw at it. I don't believe that my 1g dsm trans can outlast that POS.

Shouldve just saved up for a real sports car, aka ZR1.

I really like the whole skyline GTR family, but I agree, a ZR1 is so much better.

I know its off topic but I got to see one in person at the track a little while ago
and I took some pics of it !!!

As far as the GTR thing, that it just plain wack.
I dont know any other way to put it, from what I read in the OPs link to that thread, basically the dude wasnt even really doing nothing crazy with the car, he was just driving around with the VDC off which makes the car accelerate a little bit faster, actually it makes it accerelate the way it is advertised, but supposeably that screwed up the tranny, and Nissan has it in their warrenty claims that if you turn that off then they wont warrenty you.

So whats the point of buying the car then, people get it for its advertised speeds. 20k for a new tranny, I hope thats not just for the tranny alone and not counting installation, because he better buy it and figure out how to install that sucker himself... Its also pretty lame they have that whole black box thing going on which they can monitor everything you do in the car... I mean its a good idea to cover the companies ass for idiots who DO break their car being stupid, but for the driver it can be used against them big time whether they were negligable or not to their vehicle..

I think soon we are going to hear a lot of bad things about the GTR a couple years from now.
The skyline legend is probably going to be ruined, the R32-34 were great, and then they pissed on those cars image with the new one imo.

Ill definitly enjoy smoking one if I ever encounter a R35 on the street.
Cars arent what they used to be, as said by an old school muscle car guy....

The major downfall of the GT-R is the "black box" that is equipped on the car. It logs acceleration, braking, and lateral g-forces, as well as a bunch of other data that is looked over when the car goes in for service to see if the car has been driven to its potential. Then Nissan says "we're not going to uphold the warrenty since you've driven the car a little too hard." There are actually people refused to take delivery when they found out about this.

LOL sounds like a giant POS to me.

Nissan Engineers - "Lets build a super powerful yet super weak 'racecar' and get as much techonological bullshit to help it survive as possible, and super hype it to make potential buyers all beady eyed when they see it on lots!"

i hope the car fails and Skyline fanboi's slit their wrists worldiwde.

its ok, theres already videos of mere pulley/tune/bolton 03/04 cobras taking these things from rolls and keeping with them from digs, and thats a mere 450whp on a 36-3700lb sled, imagine 640whp in a 3200lb (or whatever the ZR1 weighs in at) rocket.

Discussed on DSMTalk as well.
Why in the hell would you have a feauture that voids your warrnty so easy to turn of? If I made something like that I would make it so you were supposed to(usually ways of getting around doing so) take the car to the dealership, talk to them about it while they explain it will void your warranty to do so.

This is talking about the VDC.

Car seems like a overly priced DSM :p breaks just as much but it's 10x as expensive.

The 90's were so much better for cars IMO.

I always thought they were over hyped anyway.

And half the reason I like the vett and GM in general, is well. They stay more or less with the time tested methods. Ok so there tranny may suck up 60hp but the sob wont break if you launch the car 15 times either ROFL.

^^True dat! R34 has years of techno stuff worked out...and...its really doesn't ever fail the users....its gonna take a few years before the GTR is a good buy IMHO...

Well, as a general rule. It's a bad idea to buy the first year model of any new car/chaise.

Take the 90 DSM's for example, or
1990 300ZX or
1986.5 MKIII Supra
2006 (I think) GTO (5.6L)

see just a bad idea. Buy the 2nd or 3rd yr model, that way all the bugs are worked out.
