Exactly why I asked what you guys thought about the .70 T3 on the hx35 hotside compared with the hx40 with the .55 hotside. So please, give me yalls o-pin-yun on that possible setup! Thanks!

I wonder if the breaking in problems have anything to do with the fact that I ordered a DIY holset kit with the t3 housing over 2 mounths ago and still have not recieved anything. Does anyone else here have any experience with theturbotrader.com? I keep calling and leaving messages and have wrote several emails and have not gotten a response.
Sounds like my story. They did return my money though. Actually the charge just never got past the pending stage and dropped. I also called repeatedly and emailed. I had placed an order in mid may. I would recommend looking elsewhere as theturbotrader.com is DOA for now at least. Timsturbos should have it or call slowboy and talk to Jeff Bastion. He can get you a t3 housing but not a bolt on. Tell him I sent you.
Well that sucks! I wonder how I am going to get my money back then? I think I am just going to get out of the game with DSM's. I got scamed on a set of cams, then one a fp-green turbo. After repeated threating to file charges he sents me a Holset hx35, but he said it had the bolt-on housing, it didnt. Now I got screwed by a shop, I think it is just best if I left the game.

Jwoodley is right.
The .70a/r housing with the hx35 turbine wheel should net very good flow and the spool will be under 4K. I would definately look at that option for the fastest spool and still have plenty of flow for the small 57lb/min 8-blade hx40 compressor or h1e 8-blade compressor which flows 55ish lb/min. But considering the hx40 turbine is just physically bigger, and the turbine wheel is actually the primary restriction to flow, the small bep housing with the hx40 wheel is likely going to flow WAY more than the hx35 wheel and large housing.
I know of bolt on t3stage3 turbines flowing more when switching to larger garrett turbine housings, but swapping to the stage 5 turbine wheel with the bolton housing always had a larger impact on flow. And the hx35 turbine wheel is a little larger than the t3stage3 turbine wheel, while the hx40 wheel is a little larger than the t3stage5 turbine wheel.
I've decided on going with an hx35 but am having some trouble finding one. I've found a guy in town who upgraded his Dodge and has only the hx35 cartridge as he used the housings on the new turbo. He wants $100 for it. Anyone know where I could find a compressor cover for it? Would I need to order a rebuild kit as well in order to get the clips to put it all back together? I will be using the BEP housing (if theres any left that is.) Does this sound like a good idea or should I keep looking?
Here's another HX52 I am about to buy. I always thought it was T4 though. Is it really a T6? If so then I guess I wont be getting it.

Err.. I can't find one used for less than $500. Add the ~$350 for the bep housing and oil lines and I'm closer to 1k than I want to be. I still need a new o2 housing and external gate as well. I found a diesel shop that has HX35's and 35/40 hybrids for $650 brand new. These are still pretty cheap for such a large turbo, but I'm getting jealous of the deals others are finding...
$350
Timsturbo's had them for like 180 when I bought my .70ar housing
$370 including the turbo?I wound up paying $370 for everything straight from bullseye. Cheaper than buying a used T3 for 135, oil lines and a T3 manifold. However I'm not sure if they still have the bolt on housing.
I paid around 480 shipped for everything for my brand new H1E ($300 shipped), brand new .55 BEP housing with flapper ($150 shipped), and all the fittings I needed.
Exactly I have no idea where these other guys are getting their prices. I keep saying FORGET TURBO TRADER!! Timsturbos.com or VIPGarage has the manifolds for either like 180 shipped for the BEP .55 or 240 or something like that MAX for the .70ar T3 housing.
I called Timsturbos.com and VIP and left messages at both establishments. Never got a phone call back so I assumed they didn''t have any more housings or didn't want business. The oil line kit cost almost as much as the darn housing for me. Probably should have shopped around a little more or gone junkyard diving to save some cash. Luckily I got a brand new Holset for free from a friend.
So I got to start and drive the new setup for the first time today. All I can say is wow.
The setup.
8.3:1 7 bolt 2.4.
stock 2g head, cams, intake.
Stock ex manifold with homemade adapter.
HE351VE VGT turbo.
~50% E85
No intercooler at the moment
Megasquirt 2 Extra 2.01
Running on a basemap generated by the computer, so rich it makes my eyes water, ignition timing is low and may be off, need to borrow a timing light.
8" of 3" pipe after the turbo to get the exhaust out of the engine bay
To start off the VGT rack is closed all the way. I have a 14b actuator on it, with no boost source. Relying on my right foot and the boost cut in the MS for safety.
Sounds like a freaking jet, the only noise is the turbine whine, I am driving around with no hood.
Its been a few months since I got to drive it, but cabin exhaust noise is less than the 2.5" dp and 3" test pipe back greddy evo style full exhaust.
This is in 5th gear. Positive boost comes in at 1900 ~2psi 2500-2600 12psi 2900 - 15 psi. Didn't hear any surging whatsoever. It spools quick enough to blow off revving in neutral.
I obviously need to get the control worked out to get it to open the rack when its needed, still haven't gotten a chance to work on that yet.
My LC1 isn't working right so I've got to figure that out, borrow a timing light and tie up a few loose ends so I can dial the tune in a bit and get some more logs.
