Well guys, it was all quite surreal. I was leaving Breckenridge ski resort yesterday afternoon in a freak blizzard. About 2 miles out of town I smashed into the back of a rented SUV that had abruptly hit the brakes to stop for a light on highway 9. Well, I didn't notice in time and hit my brakes only to smashed into the back of them. They had a bent muffler and my talon got totaled. I had to upgrade my AAA for $200 to get me and my car 80 miles home. I woke up feeling horrible and still do. However, I'm going out to a show tonight to get f##$ED UP! I love my talon and spent every last penny I made in the last four months fixing it! I was finally done fixing it and it was winter-ready and doing great! I had just had a new clutch put in this week. I had new brakes/rotors, timing belt, rims&tires. Now, it's all gone in the flash of an eye. I got a ticket for following to close so the cops were pretty cool. Nobody was injured but my neck kind of hurts today. Anyways, I'll miss the community and my Talon! RIP :talon:

So it's not fixable? Does it run at all? Besides teh hood, it really doesnt look that bad, but looks can be decieving.

let us know what you decide to do with her .. doesn't look tooo bad .. but you know better than us .. sorry to see her banged up .. keep us updated .. ok .. keep your head up ... been there..

It does not look that bad at all you can probally fix it it looks like you just need a new hood, radiator support and lights and minor stuff under the hood..

Tsk tsk, no cam cover. Any damaged to them will #### up your timing. From the picture, it looks like it's fine but keep a cover on next time. Aside from that, drop about 1k and it should be fixed. Get yourself a CF hood, aluminum radiator, headlights from ebay and other mistrinkets and she'll be ready to rock and roll.

BTW looks like that could be repaired, just because the insurance company says it's "totalled" does not mean the car can not be fixed, just means they think the repairs are going to cost more than the value of the car. And it's not hard to total our 1g's as I don't think most even in mint shape are more than $2000 according to kelly BB (not sure what the insurance company's use)

I think he's already checked out of the dsm world.

Ya really no piece of plastic would take any kind of ass whooping from that rippling metal hood....WTF

Sucks about your car though.

How can you tell if he has a timing cover or not, its too dark to tell.

start with part prices certifit.com will help you. hood headlights maybe bumper and then take out part by
part

Im telling you, my car looked exactly like that and now its fixed. I even did all the work myself. It's really not that bad

hey my friends dad wreck his eclipse into a trailer hitch and looked about the same. all it need was a new core support, hood, lights, radiator main bumper support and some other small stuff. cost about 800 in new parts and then i took his car and overnight i welded in the new core and had it done. then we had it painted and ill get pics up of it when he brings his car over tonight. fix it. theres no way that is totaled.

Everyone says it doesn't look bad, but it is easily totaled. You can see the fender to door gap is closed meaning front frame damage which means pulling to get it straight and drivable again. GL with whatever you decide to do with it.

Well, I've already taken the rims/tires off the talon today and put the old rims/tires back on while it sits before I post it for sale. Luckily the tires and rims work on my Jetta and will be a good winter set for my jetta. I say it's totaled myself not the insurance. The engine is off kilter and as stated it might have frame damage. If I try to start it the accelerator is floored and it just doesn't look good. I just took the timing belt cover off in the last few weeks to try and see if the belt looked good and I also was hearing a noise coming from their. The engine had 181K so I don't plan on fixing it. I'm not as upset seeing as it's already done and over. I'll be listing it on craigslist or ebay soon and will provide towing upto 100miles from where I live for free with purchase. The only thing I'll probably take off is the front strut tower bar. It's a drag but now I can start focusing on some other type of project car. I'll probably end up with another MKII GTI/Jetta if I can find a decent one with lower mileage. It will be a while but who knows. Either way, I hope to still hang out and see how your projects and rides are going. I'll always love DSM's. :thumb::dsm::talon:

If LandoAWD is still alive you should talk to him about when he did the same thing.

he never did get around to painting that fender...

Your fine uf your seriously going to give up on something that small then give me the car, be a true dsmr and prevail and fix her up
