Old: Custom worn out shocks, crap-tastic clapped out bushings. That “check me out I ride like a 70’s LTD” handling guaranteed to induce vomiting.
New: KYB AGX front & rear, H&R springs, urethane bushings throughout, new ball joints, links, etc.
Purchased the car from the original 74 year old owner (see pic). Drove 12 hours to pick it up, then drove 12 of the sketchiest, scariest hours to get back home. Tires appeared to be in nice shape, but were permanently out of round due to sitting for so long. Vibrated so badly that it literally made my back and teeth ache.
Car had been parked since ‘98. He had all maintenance records from day one, including oil changes and any parts replaced.
Once we got there, it was clear that the car was not quite as good as he had made it out to be, but still miles a good deal. Interior is perfect, nicer than any I’ve seen before. The car had a new glass out paint job in ‘97 and it still shines pretty nicely. Motor and tranny work flawlessly. And that’s about it.
This will be a long term full resto. I’m pumped!
