- Background:
- I bought my first DSM July 30th, 2020 and I have yet to touch it but I have been buying some parts that will be installed in the spring. I want to be able to daily this car in spring, summer and fall @ 350-420hp happily and reliably. Those are my goals to start, with some room to grow. I don't track cars or drag/street race so I'm really not looking to go crazy with the build. After I reach hp goals I will get it in the best shape I can. Paint correct, clean engine bay, wheels + tires, skirts, racing seats etc.
CURRENTLY: I haven't started the car in about a month and rarely do so as it sits until spring or until there is some nice weather. I haven't dove into the car myself since it's over an hour away from where I live but I have gathered a bit of info on some outstanding issues.
ISSUE(s): Right now it has some black smoke that comes out of the exhaust especially at first start then it kinda goes away. Cylinder 1 is leaking oil and I believe the spark plug had some oil on it as well.
SOLUTION(s): I'm looking to replace the valve seals and spark plugs. Someone mentioned pulling the oil pan to make sure everything looked good there too.
If you have any other advice, thoughts or have any questions, please shoot me a message. I appreciate your time, take care.
