- Background
- Bought in 2005 as my sisters first car after she was watching me play NFS:U. She had a lot of fun in it but was one of those people who knew squat about basic maintenance (I have to CHECK my oil?) So she stopped driving it in '08 after it started to run rough and occasionally not start and bought a used 4g.
I acquired it two years later on my 14th birthday when she moved away and couldn't take it with her. It sat in our back yard for another 6 years, I ended up getting a different car as my first as this car was too much for me to bite off at the time (it's still quite a bit, but I'm far more mechanically inclined now.) I'm pretty sure everyone in autoshop thought I was lying when I told them that I had a GSX, but I was driving my '85 celica instead. Hell, I know one of my friends from that class has a DSMT profile but hasn't updated it in years.
Did some maintenance in '16 and drove it for about 3 months through winter for college, realized it had a myriad of issues and almost burned down TWICE (both times were my fault) so I couldn't deal with at that time, it then sat at my work for another 4 years. Ended up buying a '99 Forester as a reliable DD in '17 so this car got put on hold until I needed it again.
I got tired of looking at it at my work so I decided that I had to either fix it or sell it. So all major maintenance was done and I slowly tackled issues as they cropped up in mid '20. Started to run out of money due to global events and subsequently lack of work so it got put on hold again. Forester got totaled by an uninsured driver on 11/28/21 so that restarted my need for this car and the funds to tackle the rest of the major issues it has. That brings us to today (1/12/22.)
This car is a legitimate blast to drive, lets just say that the horrible paint and lowrise spoiler always throw people off around here where 4g63s are rare and ej20s are common, especially if I launch on-boost. I get a lot of "THAT'S A TURBO? THAT THING RIPS!"
