- I'm the original owner, bought this car brand new in 1996 in southern California. Wanted one for a couple of years and when the 97's came out with the McDonalds-arch rear spoiler I said HELL NO and quickly found a 96 still on a lot.
Got crankwalk around 45k miles. It's a long story about fighting with the dealer, but in the end I actually forced their hand and they fixed it under warranty.
Car stayed stock until early 2000's when I was going to open track day events with rich friends. Had to do something to keep up with their 911s and M3s. :) To be honest the brakes were the single most important upgrade though.
Unfortunately those glory days ended amost 10 years ago when I moved back to the east coast. In recent years the car has not seen much use, the paint has all but disintegrated, and now I'm just trying to keep her running. Too many things going on when you're older...
