    Background:
Late October of 2018 I was awake in bed looking through marketplace on FB. I had an itch to look for a DSM because i have always wanted one sense high school. I found one that was within my budget and not a far off distance. Was posted for $1800, but not even looking at it i offered $1500, because it had some of the things i was looking for already. Silver exterior, black leather interior, 5 speed trans, and looked stock over all. I call my brother at about 2 in the morning and asked if he would be willing to help me( I dont have a truck or car hauler ) and to my surprise he said yes. After we got to the location we was greeted by a guy no older than 18. Said he got the car from his dad and it has not ran for as long as he remembers, but the car was in a garage, covered with a tarp, and the motor did spin. So i gave the man the money and got the title. I plan to make this car a daily driver, but i also want to have fun with it. I'm not big into stance or am i big into XXXX HP 6 second 1/4 times, i just want a nice looking and driving DSM. Looking for any tips on where to even start, i have 2 toddlers and a full time job working anywhere from 50 to 60 hours a week sometimes more. I'm more than a busy person, but this is going to be a long term project. Anything you have to say would be helpful as this is my first DSM.

Hey! Welcome to the forums and congrats on your newly acquired DSM illness. Jokes aside, you'll love it and hate it :D.

Some general tips I can give is do an overall check on the main systems of the car. You said she spins so I'm guessing it cranks and starts up? Give it an eye-down, any fuel leaks (injector seals leaking, rusty fuel tank and filler, lines, hoses), any visible damaged or missing vacuum/boost lines. Any bolts which may appear loose or missing (believe me, that happens super often). Did it come with any sort of previous maintenance documentation? If not, first thing would be to invest in a full timing job kit (timing belt, balancer belt, 3 accessory belts, water pump, hydraulic tensioner and 2 idler pulleys).

Maybe add a new set of spark plugs and wires, since they are super easy to change and not too expensive. Oil filter/Air filter is a given, no science there. If you plan to do most of the work on this car yourself, I *strongly* suggest you try to find the original service manual or a Haynes/Chilton one. It will give you most of the required torque specs, procedures, diagrams of assemblies etc. Otherwise literally everything concerning these cars has been discussed here, so you've definitely come to the right place.

You really do sound like you have a lot on your hands already, but I hope you can still find enough time for this car. Sometimes even the smallest job turn into a whole day ( or even week) ordeal when things go bad. Just gotta keep at it, 'cuse the end result is you boosting away on an empty road with a huge grin on your face!

Thank you, this morning i went out to do some general cleaning on it. I found a monstrous amount of dry-rotted hoses and vacuum lines. Its a crank no start. Sorry for the confusion. I want to get it good and clean before i start tearing into it. It looks to be mostly stock from what i can tell. With-in the next week or so i plan to remove the seats, all the trim, and carpet. You wouldn't believe the amount of spiders i have already found LOL
