Background
I bought my first "dsm" for my first car. Some people say the 420a isn't a true dsm but I'm not here to argue. I was 16 and it was 2010. It treated me well and I loved it. I wanted a gsx but the rents wouldn't allow it so I settled. 2 years later it died and I bought a 2000 z28. Miss her dearly and I will own another someday but fast forward from 2012 to 2016 and that's where the true dsm story begins. I bought my first turbo car of course being a 99 gst. I got a killer deal... or so I thought. I got it not running and soon found out the crank sensor was broken. Bypassed it and wired in a 1g cas. Got it to start and then ordered a timing kit. Redid the timing but still kept the cas. Got the car on the road and about a month later I spun 2 rod bearings. I really didn't even beat the car but I guess with 170k and only having 2 other owners than myself, she was run ragged. I got bit by the bug and had to have another. I traded my slow as balls 99 suzuki marauder for a 95 gst. Straight up trade. That's the car this profile is about. When I got it, it had a hard stutter under load. Changed the plugs and wires and she ran great. Previous owner had a Hallman in and had the SOB cranked down. I took it out for a test ride to see if the stutter was gone... it was but I maxed the 30psi boost gauge out!! Putted it back to the shop and ordered a timing kit.... psych! I took the components off the 99 that had virtually brand new components. Did timing and replaced all the front case gaskets and seals. Made sure the oil pump spun as it should. Put it all back together and had a leak. The oil pan wasn't sealing correctly. I did it 4 times until I was satisfied. It still leaks slightly but oh well. Finally exited to drive this pig. At this point it was on a stock turbo... well the kid must have ran it hard cause I quickly realized I was burning a massive amount of oil. Checked the turbo for shaft play anf boy oh boy she was looser than Paris hilton herself. Found an evo 3 mhi 16g local to me for a good deal. Bought it and swapped it. Well of course I saw this as a good time to pull my engine and delete all the bs I never use or need. So a weekend project came. Engine came out, evap and ac was deleted. Ps cooler lines were removed and looped. Fmic, 16g, manifold, dumped 02, wally, take to rail, and the afpr went on. Everything went smoothly. I was so pumped to drive it but being on a black box I couldn't open it up, especially without injectors. I putted it here and there when I needed to. One day I got into it just a bit to hear the bov go off and I heard a pop. I thought it was a coupler but when I stopped and checked my "freshly rebuilt" 16 had blown the snap ring off the compressor housing and the billet wheel ate the cover. Towed her back to the shop and swapped a 14b on and dropped in dsm link.... oh yea after I sent it out and had it serviced cause it wouldn't link to my laptop. A broken driver and 2 starting to leak capacitors later it came back and I put it in. After that I thought for sure she'd stay reliable... not a chance! Throw out bearing was going out. So today is 02-24-17... actually my birthday and in 1 week she is being awd swapped. I'll have a build thread when I start.
