- Background
- The first car I bought with my own money. I drove 2 hours to get this car for $1,250. I drove it home with it blowing smoke out of the tailpipe. Oil was also all over in the engine bay. I cleaned it up and spent about $250 on the Rock auto website for gaskets and other misc. parts. I then bought a $600 parts gst, same color and all, to continue the project before I started college. The parts car was absolutely essential to my car being roadworthy again. I swapped the stock t25 turbo with the one from the parts eclipse, a t28. I took the gauges, exhaust, and many other small things from the parts eclipse and put it on the eclipse that I planned on driving. I managed to stop all of the oil leaks and smoke blooming from the tailpipe. I then upgraded the piping and remounted the FMIC that was put on the car, which was hanging by COAT HANGERS! I bought an eBay 2.5" universal kit and got the cutting and fitting. After that was set up, I bought some BP6ES spark plugs from NGK and some upgraded wires for the car. It ran and started right up better than ever. I went to painting the valve cover, fixing up and rust in the engine bay, and clearing up the wire mess. The car is definitely still a project and not the prettiest but I definitely have plans for upgrading it. My dad recently gave me a Borg Warner EFR 7163 for my graduation gift and I plan on getting all of the supporting mods to get this bad boy into the 400-450 Horsepower range.
