Parts Wishlist
I'm happy with the drivetrain parts now that the GS-T swap has been completed, now I need to deal with the body work. I re-sprayed the front bumper, fenders, and side skirts during the swap. The hood, trunk, doors, rear bumper, and rear quarters still need to be painted.
Background
I bought this car on a whim since my wife wanted me to get a beater and stop putting miles on our GMC Acadia (put 4k miles on it the first month we owned it). Seller was asking $1200...

On the outside, the car was stock (with the exception of some riced out tail-lights, lowering springs, and a GST 'rainbow' spoiler) and had been sitting for 2.5 years in the previous owner's driveway. The front bumper was primer black, hanging off, and the car had no fender liners. A family of mice had made a home out of the blower motor, and all along the transmission (fortunately they didn't chew up any wiring), the soft top had holes in it, the flex pipe was completely disintegrated, the brakes were seized, the rear tires were bald, and the motor mounts were all cracked or torn.

The interior, well, you could tell there were holes in the top. The leather seats were in rough shape, with the driver's side leather cracked and tearing at the seams. The radio had been stolen at some point, and the harness had been cut. The driver's door wouldn't open from the outside, and the power retraction for the top was completely inoperable (when I started looking for the button, the previous owner interrupted me and said "no, it's a manual top" and proceeded to pull it down by hand..)

With all of that in mind, the motor and trans both ran strong even with 192k on the odometer. I always wanted a 2G Spyder, and everything that needed to be done, I was more than capable of handling myself so I made a low-ball offer of $750 and was pleasantly surprised when the seller accepted the offer.

I spent the first few weeks of ownership taking everything apart and putting together a plan to get this car back on the road. I had to do everything on a tight budget (remember, the wife wanted me to get a beater, not a project car...).

Went ahead with the first round of parts purchases :

- Slotted and Drilled front rotors with ceramic pads
- front bumper upper retainers
- timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket
- fuel filter
- OEM flex pipe
- 3" catback
- ram air intake
- trunk struts
- case of Dupli-Color perfect match rattle cans for the front bumper
- stormsure clear repair adhesive to fix the holes in the top
- crystal smoke front marker lenses
- convertible top side tension cables
- 32oz container of flex seal liquid (really making sure the top seals up)
- prothane motor mounts
- new fender liners

A few weeks later, and the car is up and running, ready to head over to the local inspection station for some new tires and those coveted inspection stickers!

Who knows what the future holds for this car. I almost want the motor to go on it, so I have an excuse to slap on a 4G63 head and turbo it.. but the wife might find that suspicious this early on...
