Videos
The DSM at it again
I went out with a few of my car buddies and we got a few videos as we had some fun in the snow. This is the one of my car.
Ignore my friend's yelling about me heading towards his car. He was just a bit freaked that I was going to hit his Mazda 6. I wasn't even sliding at that point.
Eagle Talon Snow Drifting
This is some more fun in the snow. After this, I got out and they said my car sounds like a jet getting ready to take off. I was only running 10psi and not the normal 23psi
They had their fun with their FWD cars later.
How to Check Your Wheel Bearing / Tie Rod
I slid my car into a hillside about two months ago. The tale-tell grinding noise of a bad bearing started about 2 weeks later. I've put about 1000 miles on the car since the grinding started. Good think I'm replacing it now. (Yes the lugs are tight.)
3-9 o'clock (left/right) checks the Tie Rod.
6-12 o'clock (up/down) checks the Wheel Bearing.
If you get movement in the 6-12 direction and in the 3-9 direction, look for play in the tie rod end. It may just be a bad wheel bearing.
Check here to see play in the tie rod end.
Bad Tie Rod End
That's bad. The spindle shouldn't move without the whole tie rod moving.
The play you see is from the tie rod end being worn out. That and I slid the car into a ditch.
