- Background
- Bought this car when I was 17 after a Audi tt was sold I had been looking at. Car was owned by an older fella and hadn't been drove for 3 years prior, completely stock. The car ran but not very good, I've always been mechanically inclined and known to fix anything so I brought my compression guage with me. It smoked bad and I figured if the compression was good than it more than likely was the valve seals. Sure enough it had good compression so I bought it, but I think the test drive had me sold with dropping the top and hearing the bov. I needed a dd at the time so I went online and flee'bayed all the parts I needed the same night i purchased it. Did my research and found other things I should replace while I was in there. About 20 days later it ran like a dream. I lapped the valves, decked the head, timing belt/tensioner, water pump, plugs/wires, exhaust manifold, painted the valve cover, and other misc maintenance. After driving it for a week I wanted more power so I turned it up to about 12psi. Then 6k miles later I installed a evo x Blow off valve, did the dump tube mod, and turned it up to 15psi. It was a little lean but it felt fast and I was instantly addicted to my dsm. One day I had been at a shop building a lifted blazer with a friend, the painter at the shop was drunk and backed into my car spider webbing the paint. With my luck something else had to happen that day, I left the shop and omw to get ice cream I heard "knock, knock, knockin on heavens door". Well that was playing in my head as I heard my rod bearings pack there bags and move to the oil pan. So I had a garage and decided I wanted to build an engine that can hold quite a bit of power. Long term goals for the car are to road race it and compete. For now it's a street car and will eventually be done, I've been building it for 5 years now and have plans to finish it as soon as I buy a house this year. Been busy with work/life so havent gotten to mess with the car for a while. My OCD has me rewirring/painting the entire car and tucking everything so I have alot of time invested in planning and some work I already have done.
P:S: I havent drove the car on all the mods listed.
