- Background
- Saw car on craigslist as a crank-no start and very rough shape but complete for $1500. Was not in a position to buy but 6 months later it was still for sale. Offered 1000 bucks and had a friend pick it up no questions asked. I didn't see the car for a month. Once I made the 400 mile drive to see and diagnose the issue I found it had a stripped timing belt. Towed it back, pulled and rebuilt head, ground out divots in pistons with a dremel, and the car ripped for 3 years as a winter beater with zero issues. Suspension and brakes shot, missing muffler, 4ws disconnected, but the crazy part was it ran 17psi and was fast af! Would beat V8's all day. Would only hit fuel cut above 6500 rpm. Pulled ecu to check and it was literally half full of RTV covering the whole motherboard! Shrugged shoulders and accepted it as magic. Eventually it was leaking oil so bad from front case I parked it with the intention of full restoration one day.*update* after sitting for a year with battery unhooked, I hooked up terminal and it started instantly like it ran yesterday! I love my Mitsu's!
