- Background
- I was gifted this beauty. Been more of a dream than a build the last 7 years. I’ve always wanted this exact car so I won’t give up on her. Previous owner kept up on maintenance, swapped the 185,000 mile motor for a 120,000 mile 4G63T (car is turbo from the factory so not an upgrade just a swap). Not sure why the swap but something tells me it wasn’t just mileage. When I first got the car she ran well for 2 years then started having issues starting. It almost acted like you had to prime the fuel pump/lines. Turn key with a very small crank about 10 times followed by a couple solid cranks and she would start up. At that point in my life marriage and kids became top priority. A few years later I got back on the dream. I put in factory taillights vs the aftermarket that were on there and pulled the gas tank. I found quite a few rotted lines, possible pinhole leaks but not confirmed. The tank had a hole in the return line basically at the tank connection. I’m starting to think those are the first step in my starting issue. Now here we are today looking into fixing or replacing the tank and running new fuel lines. Gotta start somewhere.
