Hello tuners, I am posting this thread bc I will soon be starting a project build on my car. Iam going to rebuild my motor with the intention of 400+ hp I have a 1998 gst fwd. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on different places to get a rebuilt transmission that will withstand such power for still a budget wallet. Will I need lsd? Etc. Iam not fairly tuned on transmissions so any help would be appreciated

Is it an auto? If so you are fine but if not then Jack's is a great place to look. Also keep in mind that a lot of how much power the trans can handle has to do with driver technique and how hard/much you beat on it. http://www.jackstransmissions.com/collections/rr-fwd-dsm and http://www.jackstransmissions.com/collections/rr-fwd-dsm/products/stage-3-1-premium-gs-t-fwd
Well I already contacted them about a rebuild they priced their ult ratio/lsd conversion at $4149... Because their only fwd rebuild is not meant for high performance which they state in the product gallery. I was looking at tmzperformance for my rebuild. I just wanna find a tranny that can withstand my hp goals im not going to beat it with a baseball bat all the time just every once in awhile when a mustang is feeling froggy haha

Stock should be fine for 400whp if you drive it right and have backup vehicles because it is starting to really push it if you drive hard. Also use redline MT-85 as RRE recommends. It's basically a premix of the MT-90 & MTL blend that everyone runs. But I'll let you decide for yourself on the built trans or not http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/stock-or-built-transmission.397596/ Like I said though, a LOT of it depends on your driving style. But Overbuilding is always good insurance and peace of mind.
