Hello all my fellow DSM'ers! We found a batch of brand new Evo 3 input shafts with matching Evo 3 1st gears, and Evo 3 5th gearsets and they are ready to ship out to customers that are looking for these rare discontinued parts!

We currently have 10x Evo 3 Input shafts and Evo 3 1st gears in stock.

    TMZ-Evo3-1stgearset_3.jpg
The input shaft and 1st gear are already shot peened for additional strength and durability. This 1st gear is a 2.751 ratio and is 12% taller than the stock DSM 1st gear. 1st gear synchro used is the shallow-style MD742419 for use with double springs. This set is interchangeable with 1990-1999 AWD W5M33 Mitsubishi transmissions found in the DSM (Eclipse/Talon/Laser) along with the Evo 2/3 and Galant VR-4. It does not fit in FWD F5M33 transmissions.

If you need additional installation components, such as end shaft bearings, shaft nuts, hub and sliders, springs, keys, synchros, etc. just let us know and those components can be ordered. Just send an email to tmzperformance@gmail.com regarding the parts needed.

You can purchase the Evo 3 input shaft and 1st gear here - https://www.tmzperformance.com/shop...et-input-shaft-and-1st-gear-dsm-evo-2-3-gvr4/

We currently have 6x Evo 3 5th gearsets (both input and intermediate gears) in stock.
    TMZ-Evo3-5thgearset_1.jpg

These are pretty much the last known brand new OEM Mitsubishi Evo 3 5th gearsets left in existence. The gearest is a 0.617 ratio and is 10% taller than the stock DSM 5th gear. They are not available new anywhere else and were very hard for us to track down from Japan. Both gears are discontinued items from Mitsubishi, aka obsolete. 5th gear synchro used is the late-style MD745892. This set is interchangeable with 1991.6-1999 AWD W5M33 Mitsubishi transmissions that use the late-style 5th/reverse hub and slider assembly with steel shift fork. It does not fit in 1990 style 5th/reverse transmissions without significant modification and additional parts. This gearset will also fit 92-99 FWD F5M33 transmissions and is 20% taller than the stock 5th gear.

You can purchase the Evo 3 5th gearset here - https://www.tmzperformance.com/shop...nput-and-intermediate-gears-dsm-evo-1-3-gvr4/

Thank you all for the continued support and business! This community we share here is the reason why we continue to build these transmissions!

    Thanks,

    Tim Zimmer

Is there too high of cost associated in getting one of these reverse engineered by one of these custom gear companies? It seems like there is still a decent number of manual DSMers out there getting parts. I'm sure the cost vs. the demand is to high but I'm just curious how much it really is.

It would cost me around $1200 per set with a min 50x order for input shaft, 1st gear alone, for just the machining and material, not including the RE and programming and development. There is also a company in Malaysia that has produced a taller 2.4 ratio 1st and 1.5 ratio 2nd, and it is $1800 shipped.

I am not reverse engineering these.

PPG already has a better product and it's around $7000 for a 1/2/3/4 gearset with shafts and center diff and steel shift forks.

I'm working currently on seeing if I can get any more of each gearset from overseas. I will update quantities when I get more in my hands.

Not to step on tims toes, but there are other gearboxes that these gears came in besides evo1-3. If you look hard you might find them (used ones)

Well, I am selling brand new oem JDM parts in package, not used parts.

And these are NOT USDM parts.

You want used parts then look for:

JDM CD91 Evo 1 GSR or RS models (for 5th gearset)
JDM CE9A Evo 2 and 3 GSR or RS models (for 1st or 5th gearset)
JDM 93-94 E74A Galant Eterna Sports GT and Sedan GT or VR4 (for 1st or 5th gearset)
    JDM 92-96 E84A Galant / Eterna / Emeraude VR4 6G72TT (for 1st or 5th gearset)
JDM Mitsubishi N23WG RVR Hyper Sports Gear (for 1st or 5th gearset)
JDM Mitsubishi N28W RVR Turbo Diesel IC AWD (for 5th gearset)
JDM Mitsubishi N48W Chariot MX or MZ models with Turbo Diesel IC AWD (for 5th gearset)

Well I still have Evo 3 1st gear and input shafts in stock, ALL of the 5th gearsets are gone. I received notification from Mitsubishi USA and Japan that they are all gone / obsolete / discontinued. I can not get any more 5th gearsets at all. There are limited quanities of 1st gear and input shaft still which I currently am selling.

Too bad I would have bought an evo 3 5th, had I known you had them, I wonder if anyone has the ability to make a batch for us, maybe a group buy that would be

It would cost between $600-1200 depending on who is manufacturing it, per pair of gears, and then there is designing costs, material costs and mininum batch quantity per gearset.

I have been thinking about drawing up a gear set for our transmission retaining the factory synchros for quite some time. I work for a gear manufacturer and could easily get these cut. In group buy quantity I think costs could be brought down to something reasonable.

Rather then try to reverse engineer the gears themselves to get the original gear data (which does cost a lot and is not something any gear machine shop can do) it would be far more efficient to just CMM the transmission case to get the exact shaft separation and then design new gears. This would allow for ratio changes (within reason) and we could strengthen the gear set by reducing or eliminating the helix angle and therefore the thrust loads on the shaft (will make the transmission louder). Gear face width cannot be increased as we would be keeping the synchros in place and not going to a dog style engagement.

For what it costs to have gears cut here I think cost could be brought to around the $3000 range per set if I do all the drafting work on the front end. This would not be as strong as a dog box and as you said PPG already has a great product out there for guys going all out. But for the 500HP street guys that want synchros and are stripping gears I think this could be something worth looking into.

95REGF150 Maybe you should make a new thread on this, I know I'm not the only interested member on here, and I'm not too far from elk grove [to be fair, Its a long drive, but sounds like you have a good deal of knowledge on the subject] if it all works out I'd be interested in possibly running a prototype set for my "90 trans would like to see more on the subject on here.

I will make a new thread. Sorry Tim didnt mean to hijack. But with all the Evo 3 stuff getting discontinued soon their will be no option other than used/stock or dog box so something is going to have to be done.
