What's your feelings on tech? I know your closer to being legal than me, but man I was looking up NHRA rules and we technically need a $1000 3.2A/15 suit, because of E85.

I'm only worried about the 135mph part. I think I might just set a record limeter to keep it at 135 in 4th.

I'm fairly positive they won't be that strict. I just have a cheap fire jacket and matching pants.

Tech might not even be as strict as they are saying. Who knows...

Got the pan all finished. I went ahead and installed my old trans and t-case so I could get the mounting taken care of.

Wrapped the downpipe and re-wrapped the o2 housing. I'm eventually going to wrap the manifold. That's the biggest heater under there.

Had a good time at the Shootout. I got the trans and converter in the car the day before we left. My first two qualifying runs were 9.7@143mph with 1.57/.58 60's. I ended up lowering the tire pressure down to 11 on all four and managed a 1.48 60' and went 9.5@143mph (personal best). This put me as the #1 qualifier in the 9.50 index class. End of day in the finals I made the same pass but hit the brakes past the 1000' so I didn't break out of 9.50.

I was able to weight the car on the track scales as well.
2820 lbs with ~8gal of fuel
2980 lbs with me in it

Sick! Scott, what turbo setup are you currently running? And how far deep in the 9's will it go?
It's the Borg Warner S363SXE. In precision measurements, its a 6373. I plan to push this thing into the 8's with a little nitrous and loosing some rotational weight.

So the car is 2820lbs. Over the next 6 months I am going to focus on weight. I have found about 240lbs to remove (43lbs of that being rotational). The car will still be FIS legal.

Scored a set of 15x7 Motegi Traklites for the car. This will save me 12lbs in rotational weight. I'll also be moving to Hoosier QTP's as they are 3lbs lighter than M&H street/strip tires.

Stay tuned for more weight stuff. I think this is the best route right now instead of adding more power.

Wow! that will be a lot of weight! What else do you plan on doing for your 240lbs?

I was pretty shocked when I added it all up. Some major key items:

Small Brakes
Tubular Subframes
Aluminum Driveshaft
Swaybars
Light Battery
Lighter tires
A few more items that are around 10-20lb/each

Fall national trails was pretty bad. FIS had 30+ cars. When the sport class cars are consistently faster than the pro something needs to be said. At the same time some of the pro cars are pretty questionable as to their safety.

Deleting sway bars? Have you heard of any 60ft differences before and after?

Car is in the garage for the next round of upgrades until spring. Hopefully I'll have some good stuff to add here soon.

This past weekend I attended a car show. Great weather for a nice cruise there. This thing is a lot of fun on the street :)
