Project Tsi Parts to 96 GSX

Well So it begins again.. I recently became good friends with a buddy of mine and well, he came to me seeing if id be interested in a project and help him on it.

Now, my car is down for winter and i have no projects planed for it so i was like hey, what the hell?! He traded his mini s10 for this beautiful clean 95 GSX. This car sat for 5 years.. his inspection stickers were from 05!?


Well .. Here she is ..

The guy before him owned it since 05 and swapped a 16g turbo on it and the oil pump seized, which in turn spun the balance shaft to its doom, then spun a rod bearing.. The guy before him who obviously didn't know anything about anything, tore it ALL apart. and took everything out.. and i mean everything. And let it sit for 5 years..

The goal was to rebuild the motor which i soon explained to my friend it'll take a whole winter to organize this. So the donor talon was introduced.

^^ Bought the car for 750$ needed ecu and the guy didn't know what else it needed, but it had bad strut tower rust.. I got her started after we towed her home and she sounded beautiful!!

And so the pulling began the next day.

And so she's out.. Next came the dreaded thing that i know you all hate.. the cremating of the donor..

WE SALVAGED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE FROM THIS RUSTED OUT TSI! DO NOT COME AT ME FOR THIS OR JUDGE. I STILL HAVE EVERYTHING AVALIABLE FOR PART OUT! PM ME IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, i have a full AWD swap + exhaust and pretty much anything else needed.

Well; we cut her up..

And i scraped her.. =( RIP

Then the motor transplant came into play, We dropped the motor, trans, transfer case, driveshaft, axles, and hubs into this gsx the next day...

Then it snowed.. delayed us a few days.. and i started on her today from 1pm AND MISSED THE STEELERS WOOP ASS, to do more work.. haha

And here is where she sits as of now. The starter was shot, so I'm picking that up tomorrow and hopefully she starts!

she's pretty much all done =), Needs a new starter, that'll be put on tomorrow..

Um, as for the intercooler piping i need to remake a bracket because this one he has is rigged to all hell, It needs the slave put on and a new line made for the clutch from master to the bracket..

Also a brake line needs redone.. and all new fluids and she should be ready to go!

so we ran into a big problem .. i fixed the starter and plugged everything back in, grounded everything and the car finally started to crank! but wouldn't combust and start..

Found we had spark but no fuel..

The fuel pump went bad since it was sitting for 5 years.. So we then replaced that with the TSI parts cars pump and went from there.. Still no fuel.

My buddy then fixed a line and we then had fuel!

Started right up but with a bad exhaust leak and still needs intercooler piping! but I'm very happy with the progress!

hey i need the strut towers because the ones on my tsi are ####ed up by rust, do you have em? can u sell them?

This thread was started over 5 months ago and he made a clear point of saying they picked up the donor car because it had bad tower rust which is why the parted it and scrapped the rest
