Today was an awesome day. Did some work pulling the old engine out of the Talon and disassembling it because the machinist required a core. Along the way I discovered some things. One, the engine has burnt and caked on gunk/sludge REALLY bad like the pictures show. This was awesome for me to see because originally I planned on just throwing a good crank in it and going...but the sludge was in the oil pump, front cover, bearings, windage tray, crank, head, cams, etc. There was no saving this motor by just putting a good crank in it. Lol.
Two, was that while pulling what I THOUGHT was the T25 off...I discovered it's a Big T28! I was so ecstatic seeing that/finding it out.
Three, after I pulled the head off, I discovered its an Evo 3 block and head as well. Haha. It's going to the machine shop as a core but it's still cool to find this out.
All in all, amazing day today. Blessings all over.
So after some suggestions and research I took a green scotch bright pad and some WD40 to the surface of my deck and went to down. I removed a lot of the surface rust and the surface itself still feels smooth as glass. There is some slight discoloration there still, but I trust the surface. It shines a teeny bit better than before too, so that's a bonus.
Picked up some BogusSVO goodness yesterday on my lunch break at work. Stock valves that have been unshrouded, oil port mod #1, BC1100 springs and retainers, EGNBLDR 3mm 'big bore' lifters, all that good stuff. Locals get the best deals.

Good stuff. More to come as I get it.
Oh don't we all like putting items on top of the stove-top that doubles as a counter, its priceless to see the looks on family, and or friends faces when they see stuff like this on top of the stove
Looks like another good solid talented job from bogus .
and great progress man, doing a good job so far.
Looking good.
What are the details on the head gasket?
