Few small updates. Got the k member all finished with the exception of mounting the steering rack. Waiting on some ordered material to finish that. In the mean time, made a divided t4 collector for the new manifold. Also got the turbo mounted back in the existing hole from the last setup, that was a giant pain in the ass. Had to modify part of the tubular front end for the new manifold design to clear, the divided setup is going to take up quite a bit more room then the vband setup did.

The divided T4 collector looks great Aaron! So does the turbo placement. I know it was a pain in the ass, but it looks perfect. :thumb:

It's been quite a while since I've updated this. The car is done and back together. Made a few changes since it's been updated, straight cut transfer gears, 300M t case, finished the K member and control arms, built a twin scroll manifold and made an aluminum down pipe. Also put a CF hatch on with tinted lexan for the rear and side windows. I've only launched the car twice so far, best being 5.65@128 in the 1/8. Just waiting for the shootout now :) D05972A3-CBA5-40A0-A61F-A52F0D79CCF7.jpg

That exhaust manifold is crazy badass looking Aaron! The aluminum downpipe ain't to shabby either... ;) Good luck and I'll try to stop by to see you at the Shootout.

The car looked and performed great all weekend at the Shootout so congrats on that Aaron. :thumb: I wanted to talk to you, but you guys were always so busy I didn't want to bother you. I was camping just to the south of you on the other side of the older guy (Don) with the rv and silver evo. We were working on some things with Don's evo, so I was kind of busy too. I think it was you maybe who was working on a pit bike carburetor and Don had some jet cleaning wire, or something that you, or someone from your group used. You guys had about a dozen, or more pit bikes didn't you? LOL Anyway nice job man! :hellyeah:

Just a small update on the car. Set all new PB's at the shootout. 1.32 60', 5.43 1/8, 133 mph, 8.39 1/4 and 171 mph. Was having problems with getting a useable log from the AEM, pulled a little power out after the 171 mph pass to stay on the safe side. Unfortunately hurt the trans in the semi final with Devin. Nothing too major, will have it back together this week and planning on the Columbus ohio IFO at the end of next month.

Awsome runs at the shootout man car looked smooth and fast from the stands also congrats on the time! :hellyeah:

Not any good updates, I've been fighting trans issues ever since the shootout. I believe I finally have that figured out now to where it will live again. Last Friday took it out for two passes and everything still looks good. Went 5.57@133 with a 1.44 60' so it was pretty conservative. Making quite a few changes in the off season, picked up the new haltech elite to replace the aem v1 and the IQ3 dash to get rid of all the gauges. Building a more efficient intercooler as well, this one isn't keeping up anymore with this new turbo.

Wow, great looking fabrication and awesome results to back it up too! Great documented story to get to this point! Thanks for sharing, its these types of threads that help the DSM community.

I’m big into doing all of my own fab and building. I’m admiring your K-member and am in the planning process to fab one up. The only thing that I have not figured out yet is what ball joints to use, what ball joints are you using? I’m looking at Speedway motor sports and I don’t know the taper, size, etc.. of our OEM ball joints. I just bought a factory one on rock auto to measure up, determine the shaft height, thread height, taper and diameter. I like the idea of the thread in style, but don’t know if there are any available that fit correctly. I want to avoid changing the spindle taper, the reamers are super expensive!

Again awesome work and results!

@Mark L, I'm using a factory Moog replacement ball joint. Unfortunately, the 1g ball joints only interchange with like 4 or 5 other models, none of which have a ball joint sleeve available for control arm fabrication. I ended up having to get them custom machined, I too wanted to avoid changing the taper in the spindle. They turned out great and allows for the use of the factory ball joint.

Haven't updated this in a long time. Here's a few videos from the last race of last season, 8.5" tire race.

Amazing fab work and execution at the track. Can't believe how close you are. Definitely need to check it out sometime.
