Awesome build!

So looking at your engine I noticed you aren't running coolant lines to the turbo (at least from what I could tell) so I assume you're running a journal bearing turbo?

Also, I see no thermostat housing and no thermostat or sensors. How are you getting your water temps?

Hope you get this thing done, dialed in, and ready to bring to the shootout!

One more thing, there isn't a lot of information about a 16v setup for DSM's, I seen a few articles on hotrod forums. Could you shed some light/information on this?

Thanks,

Jeremy H.
The turbo is ball bearing, I've ran my cars/bikes in the past without coolant lines without any issues. If the car isn't driven on the street I don't really see it causing any issues.
There are two ect sensors on the housing I made on the pass side of the head.
As far as the 16v stuff, the voltage just needs to be regulated down to make all the electronics in the car happy.

Thanks for the info.

I've got a FP 3794hta that requires coolant lines, I'm just afraid of damaging a $2700 turbo.

I can understand that. With my turbo being forward facing, it's already risking being damaged anyway LOL.

Got the car out to the track last night. Only made a few passes. First pass was turned all the way down just to be sure the car goes straight and drives like it should. Went like 63 mph on 14 psi and no launch haha. Turned the boost up to 40 for the second with the timing still real low. Still no launch, just checking the tune. Went 7.20@118 LOL. Tried to launch it the third pass but just pushed through the brakes. Going to wire the brake pump differently this week. Rolled trough the beams and went 7.50@121.

OMG SICK! 14psi the first run... 40psi the second time! :hellyeah: now that's how you get things moving. This car is gonna be something to witness. :sneaky: I can't wait!

Not much to see, but here's the go pro vid from the last pass.

Got the car back to the track at the dsm shootout. First pass off the trailer went 9.4x@158. Still can't quite get the car to sit still enough to leave under any power. At 3800 rpm the cars only building about 4 psi. The car was on 42 lbs and 12 degrees of timing the whole weekend, cleaned the a/f up a bit and cooled the intercooler a bit before each run and picked up a little from that. Best et of the weekend was a 9.37 and best mph was 163. Still have a lot of power left on the table, need to get the car to leave before I add more power though. The car weighed in at 2660 with me in it. Track prep wasn't very good up until eliminations, car wanted to spin in the top of first and in second gear. The new slicks may have contributed. They seem to be getting softer now after a few passes.

Here's the eliminations vs Kevin jewer.

Same race against Kevin, from the go pro.

Made some changes to the brakes. Now the car sits still at 4500 rpms with no issues. Took the car to a local 1/8 mile race last night. I'll start adding some more power to the car now.

Hell yeah!

Car looked good at the shootout.

What did you do to help prevent it from pushing through the brakes?

Different pads?

Thanks. Brakeman front pads, and a smaller master cylinder to increase brake pressure.

Could you go into detail on the smaller master cylinder?

This sounds like a good idea. I currently have the TCE drag brake kit, if the wilwood pads won't hold the car I'll be switching to brakeman pads. I'd love to have gotten their brake kit bit its a grip!

Very NICE, congrats on starting to get it worked out.
Thanks John.

Different model 1g's came with diff size masters. The pads did more good then any of it. I still couldn't hold the car back with the new pads, until after I drove it around and seated the pads. It's amazing what a difference just the pads made.

I have some cheapy pads on my setup and i've noticed that if I hold the brake while driving through the pits going to the staging lanes gets a good amount of heat in them and holds the car rock solid. Very glad you got yours working well! Can't to see how far this setup takes you!

I don't know why I haven't been putting the videos of your car here, but here they are in your thread finally. :)
