I found a part number for the viscous coupling but the websites that once stocked it say there no longer available. I guess if I have to I will weld the center diff and turn the junk viscous coupling into a spacer but I would rather not do it this way. So where can I find a good viscous coupling.

Is there any test on how hard the coupling should turn. The one that came outta the trans I can turn by hand, my extra turns easy with a chain wrench. I found some specs on the 3kgt and that said something like 65ish ft.lbs.

Haha your for sure right the vcu doesn't explain the entire problem just started the search for parts. I'm planning a total trans rebuild, going to take tcase and rear end apart and check for problems. I'm expecting problems with the center diff. Plus I have brand new synchros to install if needed while ive got it tore down.

Open it up first then look for parts. Ive seen trannies that had fod get loose inside and there were no salvageable parts. Youre wasting your time by not knowing for sure.
