Im trying to get the exact specs on it. I tried seaching for part numbers and specifications but i cant seem to find em. Heres a pic and the number on the housing is 49179-54900. Very good condition to, hardly any shaft play. any help is appreciated thanks.
This is all ive found on it. I keep seeing td06.Mitsubishi Turbo Specs

it could be a td05h or 6 or 6h. I think the best way to identify it is by counting/measuring the blades. My friend currently has a td05h in that housing and another friend had a td06h in that same housing...

I'm actually looking into buying a td06h 20g.

Here's the order of smallest to largest 20g's:

TD05H
TD06-SL2 (from FP)
TD06
TD06H

If you got a 6 or 6h, the car should REALLY move :)

Looks like a Buschur 20g, it can also be a 20g off a Fuso truck
Buschur doesn't make the 20G....Mitsubishi does. :p

You can't judge how well his car will "move" depending on the turbine his turbo has. The larger turbine obviously flows more air and offers less backpressure, however this would be a much laggier choice for someone with a stock engine or a mild build. In fact, many have found that the TD05H 20G is the most desireable for a daily driver for it's ability to spool much quicker than all of the others. If you're consistently running above 25psi you may want to consider the bigger turbine; however depending on the O.P.'s build and his tune the TD05H may be the best possible 20G for him.

There are actually more possibilities of 20G's than you know about:

-"Sleeper 16G" / "Bastard 20G" = 20G compressor wheel in a TD05H compressor cover, mated to a TD05H turbine wheel.
- Standard TD05H 20G = 20G compressor wheel in a TD06 cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD05H turbine. This is the most popular type of 20G for our cars. The Buschur 20G is derived from this version, with a 20* clipped TD05H turbine.
- Standard TD06 20G = 20G compressor wheel in a TD06 cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD06 turbine.
- FP TD06-SL2 20G = 20G compressor wheel in a TD06 cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD06-SL2 turbine.
- Standard TD06H 20G = 20G compressor wheel in a TD06 cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD06H turbine. I know they exist, but I've yet to see one like this personally.
- Frank Level 1 20G = 46-trim Garrett compressor wheel in a TD06 17C or 20G compressor cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD05H turbine.
- Frank Level 2 20G = 46-trim Garrett compressor wheel in a TD06 17C or 20G compressor cover, 2-1/4" compressor inlet, mated to a TD06 turbine.
- Frank Level 3 20G = 54-trim Garrett compressor wheel in a TD06 17C (2-1/4" inlet) or upgraded 20G (3" inlet) compressor cover, mated to a TD06 turbine.
- Frank Level 4 20G = 60-trim Garrett compressor wheel in an upgraded TD06 20G compressor cover, 3" inlet, mated to a TD06 turbine.
- Frank Level 5 20G = 60-trim Garrett compressor wheel in an upgraded TD06 20G compressor cover, 3" inlet, mated to a TD06H turbine.
- FP Green = 50-trim Garrett compressor wheel in an upgraded TD06 20G compressor cover, 3" inlet, mated to a TD06H turbine.
- FP Red = 60-1 Garrett compressor wheel in an upgraded TD06 20G compressor cover, 3" inlet, mated to a clipped TD06H turbine.

I'm sure there are more than I'm forgetting, although this list will cover 98% of the possible 20G's you'll get your hands on.

TO THE O.P.: Your 20G has a standard compressor wheel in the TD06 20G cover (54900). I can't tell what size the turbine is until you post pics of that side of the turbo, but I'm willing to bet it's a TD05H.

Take the hotside off and measure the exhaust wheel. Don't think I'd count the Frank series of turbos as a "20g", but those were around before my time;)

Hope this helps:
2"= TD05H
2-1/4" = TD06
2-3/8" = TD06H

The Franks are still built from what began as a 20G turbo, so the O.P.'s question of "how many variations" still applies.

The Franks are still alive and well. My buddy has a Frank 5 on his car, I rebuilt (2) Frank 3's for different guys last summer, I have a Frank 3 with a polished compressor cover at my shop right now, and I sold yet another Frank 5 about 2 months ago.

Here's a Frank 5 that I recently rebuilt and resold; you can see "L4" on the compressor cover, showing this turbo was once a Frank Level 4 with a TD06 turbine, but I replaced it with a TD06H turbine in a Bullseye Turbine Housing making it a Frank Level 5:

Here's a standard 20G for a visual comparison of compressor size:

Well i cleaned up the housing today and found a 2nd number on the compresser housing. the one stamped in the casing says 49179-54900 and the other number is 49179-04100 that is etched into the smooth surface on the housing.

hello, i wanted to bring this thread back to life and ask what kind of turbine housing do i need for my burschur 20g. What throws me off is how the outer side of the 20g measures 2'' but gets bigger as it goes inwards :aha: so i dont know if its a td05h or tdo06

help identifying is appreciated

TD05H. Any standard 14B / 16G turbine housing will work.

Just for the record, every Buschur 20G I've ever seen had a TD05H turbine- most were clipped 20*. I'm sure they offered a turbine upgrade, but I've never seen one.

Just to throw a couple more 20g based turbo, that is if they count, FP started making tdo6h turbine wheels in house a couple years ago so that they don't have to clip the turbines for the Green and Red. It's basically the same as the standard tdo6h turbine, but it has 11 blades versus the 12 blade standard.

I had the Mitsu TD06 20G. Externally gated. Nest to it was my old FP Big T28.

Piece I made so I could run the wastegate off the exhaust manifold.

oh thanks so much, It is indeed a Buschur td05 20g. I test fitted my brother's td05 14b turbine housing and it fit ! wow now im depressed. LOL its just the idea of the difference of flow between a 14b and a 20g I never would have thought they would use anything the same = P

Frank Level 2 20G. Garrett 46-trim compressor, TD06 turbine. The 46-trim compressor has a slightly smaller inducer (hence using the 17C cover) and larger exducer than a 20G wheel, and it works better at lower boost levels than the MHI 20G wheel.
