Hey DSMers,
This build is a In Memory Of Brandon Stamper, He is my best friend. i met him a few years ago in high school, we had auto shop together. we both clicked pretty well together. He was into motorcycle, so am I.
Brandon actually hated any imports for the longest time, he thought that every import was just like every honda he sees around town LOL, till he rode in my DSM (99GSX). he fell in love with them. after i graduated highschool i move to Sacramento to attend UTI. He was still going to be a Senior. while i was in Sac he became my motorcycle mentor and i became his DSM mentor.
1 year later he graduated highschool and i graduated UTI and moved back and on that same day he went and bought himself a 97 GSX. on the way home from purchasing the car it spun a bearing. thats when we began to plan a build for the car. about one month later on 9/15/2012 i was having a graduation party for graduating UTI. on that same morning we pulled the engine out of the car. he looked like the happiest guy ever LOL. while we were at the party he decided he wanted to get his jeep.(he Brought his Motorcycle (CBR929)). on his way to pick up the jeep he got cut off by a elderly lady and t-boned her. Brandon Stamper was pronounced died on the way to the hospital that day.
the day of the funeral his mom asked me if i wanted to finish the build. i greatfully said yes. we had a car wash fund raiser and made shirts for him and took any profit to the build.

The plans with the car are going to be about 300-400awhp. DD

here are some pics of the car form when he got it to how is sits now

Let me know if there is anything you need, i'd be glad to donate to this build, your story really touched me about your friend. I'd love to help with anything to the best of my ability. It would be great if you started a list of everything you needed for the build so I could look through my inventory and see if I can be of service. I'm sure that other people would help out as well.

c\\truely sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend (we get so few in life) It's cool his folks offered you what they did and for you to take it on is also saying a lot about your friendship with him. I don't have a lot to offer as i'm disabled and living on scraps myself (fellow motorcycle rider too 03 gsxr 750 sprocketed with a custom pipe and custom dual caliper handbrake)

but if there's any fab work or welding (light machining as well) that's needed I'dbe glad to kick some labor and metal in to this prioject, don't be shy about hitting me up

thanks guys, im wokring on a list of every thing i need right now, its hard to think of everything LOL.

i honestly wish i had more to offer. it is a truly great and genuine thing commemorating and finishing this build to your freind. i currently live with my best freind who is doing the same for his mothers truck.

i wish i had some of the stuff you needed, i woud gladly donate it. if i can offer any advice just post up what you need, and i salute you sir.

as glenn said, we have so few good freinds in life, and you are doing one of the most generous things imaginable. i tip my glass to you.

edit: i do have some 1k cc PTE injectors that ive cleaned and flow tested, new upper seals (need lowers) that i would be willing to donate to this project if its something that would work for you. pm me if you are interested.

I am very sorry to hear about your friend it is A very touching story. I have some parts I think you might want pm when you get A chance I will donate some parts that are on your list

Very sorry to hear man, its really great what your doing for him. I'm also a biker (07 ninja 650r) and know how dangerous people are on the roads. I also lost a friend in a bike accident this last year, coming off an on ramp hit sand and went down into a guard rail. Thankfully he was killed immediately so he didn't have to suffer.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. These stories remind one, how precious and short lived life can be. And another reason I'll stay off a bike, as much as I'd like to have one or my buddy's tell me to get one. Good luck with the build, and keep it updated :) .

hey guys not to much going on right now with the build but thought i would do alittle update on it :)
hopefully it will be shifted into overdrive and my goal is to get it running by the end of feb.
right now the head is at the machine shop and will be getting ported/polished, valve job(1mm over), decked, tanked/cleaned, and pressure tested.. i decided im going to go with the Delta k272 for the cams and not to sure on the valves/springs, but ill figure it out soon LOL.
the short block is pretty much built already.
next i will be sending out the turbo, exhaust mani, intake mani to a buddy in sac so it can all get ported/polished and have the turbo rebuilt.

im trying to post 3 pictures of the short block but it keeps say i exceeded my quota for my memory or something like that. ill keep trying but till then have a nice day :) :dsm:

sup guys.. so the plans have changed i am now going to go with crower 272/272, they actually came in today:) and yesterday the adjustable cam gears came in so finally i can put the head back together once the springs come in.
oh and i got the flywheel in and resurfaced. i went with ACT
once i get all that done the engine should be ready to put back together once i find the bolts to the oil filter housing, flywheel, and some other shit LOL :ohdamn: they have to be somewhere in the garage.
so one i find out how to post more picture i will, i have yet to still figure that out ahah

Sad to hear man. I watched 3 of my friends die on their motorcycles almost right infront of me. (400 feet back) If i hadn't been held up by a suv that i let make a turn then i would have been hit and launched off my bike as well. Old lady in a honda civic going 51 in a 30 around a backroads turn. went to grab her purse on the passenger side floor and well drove straight into them. Sold my bike the day after to someone local. havent been on a bike since that happened in 09. Actually now that i remember 5 months later in october a fellow highschool buddy was t boned and killed as well./ Its otehr people you have to watch out for most of the time. anyways...
I know what its like to lose a friend like this, glad your keeping his memory alive!

so just a small update on the car and where it is at.
about 2 weeks ago i finally droped the engine and trans in, but ran into some problems. the car before had a 2g CAS with a 2g CKP. snd in the process of pulling the motor in the begining the CKP snaped into pieces. :ohdamn: and it completly slipped my mind that it broke and i would need a new CKP if i want to run stock ecu for a while, till i save for the dsmlink. i only noticed that we didnt install the CKP in the new block after it was in the car. :banghead: so my options now are to either buy a new 2g CKP and have to pull the timing belt and everything back off to put the sensor in or just save up for the 1g CAS and DSMlink and just get it over with all at once.
and ive decided to go with the 1g CAS/ DSMlink route.

but on the bright side all the car needs now is
plug in sensors
fluids (tans, diff, coolant, transfercase, ect..)
run vacuum lines
intake manifold gasket
1g CAS
DSMlink

and she shall live once again :thumb:

Sorry to hear about your friend. Let me know through pm's if you need anything to finish. I have quite a few random things that may help ya out.

Also if you want send me your address through pm's and ill ship ya a green top at no cost to ya.

If not good luck with your build cool to see people step up and do right for people they loved.

thanks alot man!. pretty much all i need for the car right now is what i posted as far as i can remember :p
like
1g CAS
DSMlink
ECU for DSMlink LOL
intake mani Gasket
and pretty much all fluids aha,
i believe thats it

so just a little update on the build.
i finally got it started! took a while and alot of headaches, but i got it and now for many more.
it starts but wont idle at all. and only runs if i am giving it throttle. im going to redo the boost leak test and hopefully find something. im also thinking maybe fuel filter?? or injectors because they sat for a year in the open and got dirty. i tried to clean them as best as i can. other than that idk.

and i finally sold my baby.. my 99 gsx and now have the money for fuel pump, injectors, down pipe, wideband, boost gauge and a better FMIC cause that greddy one just wont cut it ahaha.

if any of you guys would happen to have a clue or some things i should look at to why the car wont stay running feel free to let me know! :) im really hoping to get this thing on the road this month so i can get the car in for paint.
