Ive read reviews on tires and have searched on here, but it seems like all the threads are years old. I need new front tires and want a street tire but something really sticky to hook up with but on a budget. Anything like that exist?

I was looking at the bfg gforce kdw's because ive read good things. They have a few different tread patterns which is a little confusing and are also a little pricey. Anyone know what tread pattern to go with or if there is anything comparable and a littke cheaper?

Id like to get a tire for under 100 a piece but would pay more if it sacrificed too much performance. 205 55 16 is what is on there right now. Ive never dynoed it but id guess between 300-350

I forgot to mention I work at a locally owned auto shop, so I do get a very small discount on tires at our cost. Thanks for the suggestions though

Saw some dunlop 8000 and also some nexen 5000....cheap and seem like a decent aggresive tread pattern

My advice would be to check tires with a UTQG rating that your looking for. If you can figure out about what kind of UTQG rating you want, you can shop locally and find "off brand" tires that will get you what you want at a cheaper price.

Hey I just bought some new wheel set from discount tires recently and they sell tires for cheap I recommend it to everyone. plus they have pretty good customer service and they backup their products like nobody.

My personal choice is Hankook ventus check it out they're pretty nice for the price. They got all kinds of rebate programs if you buy a set.

Not sure why you all are laughing at the guy who said snowtires. If the OP is looking for grip for the launch, it's an excellent suggestion. The key to the launch is a soft sidewall and snows have the softest sidewalls. I did much better at drag-racing on snows than autocross tires.

You will not find a REAL performance tire under $100.
    And 205's for performance?...

I would try the snowtire, if not...I would wait to get a bigger wheel.

hankook ventus v12 are pretty good but pricey. I had firestone firehawk, pretty decent at the drag strip.
But I have these tires on as a dd car and track car. I'm not sure if you are going to use it just for track or both dd and track.

I agree! I have a set of V12's, and I've never been happier! They have good grip especially on wet surfaces :thumb:

I love my hankook v12's and also talked my friend with the mid 11 Evo8 to try a set. Just for fun he made a pass at the track on them and ran 11.9@116. For the price of those tires that's sick if you ask me. I'm planning to get a set for my gvr4 next. I think my friends fastest on the drag radials is 11.65@118.

Could head to yards that might have that size from pulls .. and tons cheaper as long as they've been inspected.

But, I grabbed a set of stock Mastercraft Strategy's 205/55R/16's for less than a hundred per tire at Les Schuab's in this area and they're 40k mile tires. Been well pleased.

Budget tires for the track that are very streetable...

    Continental ExtremeContact DW

    You didn't mention size but I run a 245/45/17 on a 17x8" wheel and they are $140 a tire.

I was gonna suggest Yokohama S. Drive cause thats what I run. I got them for about $75-80 2 years ago. They are more like $110 now before shipping. I drag race and autoX in them and they hook very well. Much better than the Sumitomo's I ran before.
