Genghis.. which may not be some of you's thing.. but hey.. to each they own.. i think the main problem with genghis was the lack of respect i was gettin for choosing an eclipse as a build car.. i guess until i had something to prove to some folks.. goin from a GT500 theme to a 'what if i remade this ish, how would i make it better" deal... so first thing i did was step up the wheel game..

one pet peeve of mine is when a car like this is built with all show and u look under the hood and theres a stock motor.. so i decided to turn to the performance aspect of the car.. since those are 20s.. 3000gt Vr4 calipers (yes they fit..) with cross drilled rotors front and rear (12" and 11.5" respectively).. ordered (preview of how they look behind the wheels)

Very nice build so far, I'll be curious to see how this gets finished.

Maybe it's just me but I've always felt deep dish in the rear on anything but a RWD car looks strange (to put it nicely), not just strange, but wrong - especially when it's a true staggered set up. Even if it's just for show, it seems odd to do that on an AWD or FWD car. Any real car guy out there will be baffled by this. I've always felt that having wide wheels all the way around with the same offset makes these cars look sooooooo bad ass. It's what makes the AWD cars cool and unique.

But hey, I guess I'm just old school. I've noticed a few FWD/AWD cars sporting the staggered RWD wheel configuration lately. Seems like a trend that we'll all have to deal with for a little while I suppose. I'll keep checking up on the progress of the widebody work, looks good so far.

... well thanks for the comments (even the criticisms).. we are actually close to getting this thing started!! i changed up a lot of parts though.. "having" a widebody car i feel like that i was looking over the "power" aspect of the build so i decided to upgrade things:

JMF sheetmetal intake manifold
PRECISION 6262 turbo
Skunk 2 cam gears
Brian Crower 272/272 camshafts
over sized valve springs
titanium and arp everything
custom fuel rail
walboro 400
aem methonal kit
BBK 75mm throttle body
cosmetic headgasket
... i forget what else.. anyways.. ON TO THE ENGINE BAY PICS of how it sits right now...

finished up the TPS wiring and are having a starting problem right now.. this weekend gonna trace the electrical and hopefully will have a start up video by next week...

Hey don't take my opinion to heart, I'm an old man around here with more conservative styling taste. I love that you're putting a ton of effort in the performance department. The car looks pretty extreme, and my hat goes off to anyone putting this much work and money into a DSM these days - we need more of that. For me, the staggered wheels are just a minor faux paus that can always be changed out later when that trend dies down.

id like to have those wheels on my G35! but id have to agree with Chris on rocking staggered fitment on a FWD. I LOL when i see staggered fitment on those Nissan Altima coupes LOL, its usually kids who wanted a Z i figure LOL

love those wheels though!

ohhh.. well.. can learn from everyone.. thats what makes this scene so grand... i think a lot of people have forgotten about being themselves... but its a goal of mine to make a car i can enjoy on these "non smog tested" Alabama roads... LOL.... wish me luck on gettin it cranked tomorrow...

Looks good so far, the bay looks amazing. Im so glad you had the wheels to pull this off. I hate seeing wide bodies with massive fender gap, just makes me think whats the point LOL.

Plus not only do you have the wheels to pull it off, you have the motor as well. I'm in on this one.

Im an oldie too by comparison who thinks this look belongs on an early 90s turbo MR2 but hey... props for doing what you want to do.

Engine bay looks great and should produce plenty of go go.

looking good man keep up the work!

I think deep dish and meshes look fine on any car but for staggered fitment anything but a FWD car. AWD cars at lest have power going to the back wheels to use the bigger tires on the back so technically it makes logical sense!:p

umm, no.

AWD cars require same size tires on all four corners.

Untrue. The rolling diameter must be the same. A staggered width setup has no detrimental effect to any drivetrain components.

It was just speculation anyways so thanks for the educational fact! so you cant have say a 215 up front and a 225 or 235 in the back? I thought for sure it'd make a difference because of a larger surface area would mean more grip in the rear.

you just have to find tires that have the same overall diameter, 911 Turbos for example have wider wheels on the back than the front and they're AWD.

Cool build so far, curios to see how that widebody turns out.
