Full on Evo III swap to a 95 Mirage shell, 4g63, AWD, RHD all OEM

Work on it yesterday with my dad he came over to give me a hand. Started to take the rear end apart. It was a huge pain in the ass. When we put the rear end in the car it was all together still so we left it alone. Broke bolts,had to cut out arms from bolts being frozen in the bushings,ect

Cut open the frame rails to reinforce them more. When I had the 2.0 in it i riped the bolts throught the frame rail on the left side. I don't want to deal with it pulling back out with the 2.4

As the rear end is right now lower arms out,megan toe arms are out also.

The stock rear lca had to be cut out the camber bolts were froze in the bushings and 1 of the sway bar links had to be cut off as well

This realy pissed me off the megan tow arms the bolts were also frozen in the bushings and they have not been in for that long under 2years. Going to bring them to work and make some new bushings for them and a set for the camber arms when I order them.

woo. sold a bunch of my paintball gear I dont use any more last few nights and it is back to the 50's weekend car show. So there is a ton of venders and over 14000 car 1964 and old.

my dad got me the bendable s.s. heater hoses to match my radiator hoses that I got for the car last year. (traded my dad a halo hopper for them LOL

also bird at work made me some alum bushings for the megen toe and camber arms. just have to press them in now

Got today at back to the 50's

-an ajustable wrench my dad got it for me. they also gave us all hat's for all the stuff I got from them this week end

Ordered the last 2 fittings I needed for the ofh forgot yeaterday
Ordered the alum blocks for the vice to put the an fittings together

my dad got 2 QT cans of satin black for 60.00 and gave me one

Got a 80a realy to replace the 30a one on the bosh -044 fuel pump
got a 3 in and 4 out fuse block for power for alt,starter,ect
also got 4 20a fuses for the gauges and smaller stuff to run power to

I gotta say man the car is pretty legit. When did you come up with this idea? How long did it take you as well? Seems like a long project, but really fun.

Always wanted a evo 3. Got the shell for free years ago. Just when I first got it running and driving had around 3 weeks into it. I drove it stock for 3 week then started to build it up more. I was d.d. the car for 4 years till last april (2010) when the engine let go on the dyno. So it has been a real slow rebuild since I am doing a lot more than I was going to do to it.

In between the engine going out I built a evo 1 swap with a 93 mirage sedan and every thing that was out of my talon when I sold the fully restored shell. Built that and put it up for sale. Also pulled my awd spyder home out of storage and put it back together for the most part to sell it off also. It has been in storage for 10 years now and still has 48k on it. Also built my new d.d. the 89 turbo mirage hatch and picked up a 01 mirage sedan for the wife and rebult the head so she could have a new d.d. since she was driving the hatch and she wanted a sedan.

new 8an line for the fuel rail. I am going to get a extra 90 fitting for the afpr to make the line shorter

also drilled the baffles out of the valve cover so I can put the 2 90 10an fittings in. going to tap and put in s.s. alan screws to hold the baffles back in

the baffles are soaking in degreaser right now

got the last of the big AN lines done.

taped the breather tube to m8 1.25 and put in a alan plug in it

retaped the pvc hole to 1/8 pipe and plug it with a alan plug

got the hole drilled for the 10an fittings in the valve cover

also got 3 1/4in pipe thread alan plugs for the intake manifold since I will be running a vacuum block and all 4an lines for every thing that needs vac. Took off the smim and went after it with some heavy cut and the buffer.

It has been a never ending project. Since last year when the engine let go I went way over board from just putting a new engine in the car. I am doing every thing to this car that I was going to do to my awd spyder. The spyder took a back seat when I started to build this car as soon as this is done this time I will be restoring my 1951 mercury m-1 truck.

Last time I went though all the papers on the car I have well over 30k into it. That is just the parts and the massive shipping costs from all over the world. It is not somthing to start if you are not looking to spend a ton of cash on it. When I started the build and got it running and driving the first time I had around 12k in to it for a car I got for free. So happy I dont have to pay any one to work on it at all. If I did it would have never been built. I could have a lot less into the body panels if I did not go oem and went with a vis evo 3 fiberglass kit like almost all the mirage guys do, but to me that was cheating and I hate fiberglass kits.

I do not even what to know how much time we have put into the car. I know it has to be huge number with my time and friends/family helping out also.

That is a very clean conversion bro, I've always wanted to do something like that on a mirage that same generation. But tech school didn't help much with that, so ended up wit a 1st gen, mad props to you man keep it up.
 
Well it has been a really long time since I worked on the evo. so today I pushed the spyder out side to work in it.

Put the suspention back together,fenders,and rims back in the front. On the rear I got the new plates welded in the car so I dont pull the rear end out of the frame a 2nd time. I got the alum bushings pressed into megan toe arms. Put the ltt alum lower lca's in the car. I still need to get new sway bar link's. The car is now back in the ground from being on jack stands for a year.
