I need some tips on how to change the valve seals... im gonna be doing this for a friend how much time can i expcent doing this. and what tools will be needed.....

Was wondering if anyone has used the VALVE SPRING COMPRESSOR TOOL? I need to change my valve seals as they are the reason i'm burning this mass amounts of oil i believe. So i've been told about this tool by a fellow DSMer and he said that this tool is a beuty.

If anyone has used this please state how the process went and i was wondering if i could get a step by step. I've heard things like "You need to take off your timing components, put the car on jacks, take off driver's side wheel, take off motor mount to get the rest of the bottom timing components off, alternator and steering pump belt, and a bunch of other pulleys and belts"

Is this really neccesary to take all of that off or has anyone just skipped some parts and made it easier on themselves.

Thanks in advance

Yeah pretty much all timing components have to come off and if you don't plan on taking the head off it can be done but its a little harder the 2 ways I've done it is to get a tool or make one that threads into your sparkplug hole and you have to pressurize the cylinder to keep the valve up or you could do it oldschool take clothesline feed it into the cylinder then rotate the crank til that piston comes up and the clothesline will hold the valve up while you change the seal I've done it 100s of time trust me it works its time consuming but it works

I just pmed you yea dont forget the rope/vacuum line or else the valve travels a long way till the keepers are able to be taken out, also beware getting the rop stuck in the valve seat too. Id be scared to use pressurized air tho LOL.

Best 80 bucks I ever spent.

Did you get the 6 or 8mm? I'm assuming 6. This seems to be somewhat like snap-on's.

Question about replacing seals (sorry to revive this thread but I thought its better than starting a new thread).

Can you just pop the rockers off individually gaining access to the retainers? That would save you from having to take all the timing components off. Any ideas?
