Many of you guys may remember my tube chassis build not too long ago, that car IS still in my hands, It has not gone anywhere. But I managed to get my hands on a 1998 GSX with under 60k on it. The car is being built to be an absolute street monster from hell. Still will have full interior along with heat and AC. Anyways its been my dream to have a 9 second street car that is reliable. So the build begins! I plan on going with a 6 bolt/ auto setup since breaking parts really gets old. I am also contemplating doing a ford 8.8 in the rear. I will be running all of our custom parts and the car will be a show piece of the work we do as well! Hoping to get it down lighter than anyone has ever been able to do before! And once I am a Vendor on here I can start showing you the stuff we will be selling. But for now we will pretend that any parts you see I am not selling.

Some things were brought up tonight while we were building the Jig for the rear subframe, I am almost considering taking a crack at a total bolt in ford 8.8 setup. I am thinking the GSX will be the lucky one to get tested on. There is weight loss going this way but not substantial. Just dont want to drop 2 grand on axles.... Let me know what your thoughts are! Im tossed up between the 2.

do the 8.8 set up and make an extra for me i,ll pay and test for you :thumb: i love the idea of this im actually set on this idea it is one of the main things i have planed for my build

Alright so I want to keep this short as I just had shoulder surgery yesterday. But I made some decisions and started ordering parts. It is for sure going automatic with kiggly front 5 disk clutches and all the rest borg warner. Also I am keeping the stock diff and axles in the car until it gives me trouble. It will give some time to do some real testing on my subframe as well. All of my hard parts are getting sent to Tim at tmz for shot peening and cryo treatment. Once my shoulder is a little better its game on!

That was my nephews car. Good luck with the build, I really wanted him to finish it. Oh well.

Was just going to send you this link Erik.

I thought this car looked familiar the other day, i helped James do a good bit of work on that car. I still remember driving all the way to chicago to get that car.

Good luck with the build, should be a nasty monster.

What numbers have you come up with as far as weight? I did a rough calculation awhile back and the solid axle weighed quite a bit more. The Ford 8.8 by itself is ~170lbs (depending on length of tubes).

I'm really serious about doing a solid axle so I can ditch the rear hub setup and run a fat tire out back (285-295 tread width) and still have it flush mounted. This way there's no traction issues in the 700 hp range with street tires. Not to mention broken drivetrain parts will be a thing of the past.

Have you checked out these axles?

Damn how many did you have? I got the one for the 2G head from you. Still sitting on the shelf. :(

Looks good I always enjoy checking out your work. Sent you a PM about a few things.

You mean kid tsi? LOL idk who you are

So when I got this car it had EVO Brembos on it. I considered ditching them to save some weight, but I have now decided that since this is going to be mainly a street car it needs to beable to stop all of that power as well. So tonight I pulled the calipers and broke them down to re-coat them and re build.

Been a while since I have posted on this but here is a small update on things. Got some more parts in and started on fabbing up the roll cage. Also got the car to where I believe is under 2600 lbs for a final weight with full interior and heat.
