Tried getting help from people on here yesterday but out of all the views not a single response, guessing it's mainly because I have an automatic and it's looked down upon by most on here.. so hopefully there will be a better crowd today.
I've got an automatic transmission and whenever I try putting the car in drive it seems to be fine but overdrive will not kick in, when putting the car in reverse it does nothing unless its put slightly above where reverse is closer to being in park for the gear to shift into reverse.. shifting into 2nd and lower does nothing what so ever. The only time I did notice that Overdrive will actually kick in is when the car is sitting in park, but any other gear and it won't kick in. I haven't heard any odd sounds either like knocking and the sort. just the same typical sounds it's supposed to make if that makes any sense.
Got into an accident awhile back and when the impact happened I was thrown forward and in that process the gear was forced out of drive all the way up to park since I drive with my hand resting on the shifter, then after that the transmission locked itself and the guy who needed to get my car out of the way and off the road forced it out of the gear it locked down in.
Any ideas as what could be wrong and if this is an easy fix or complicated and expensive?
