So ive been thinking for a while, would a 4G64 6 bolt crank work in a 4G61T block ?

some specs:

deck height
4G61 --- 274.9-275.1 --- 9mm less than 4g63
4G63 --- 283.9-284.1 ----6mm less than 4g64
4G64 --- 289.9-290.1 ----15mm difference between 61-64 deck height

timing belt teeth (not really important, but handy to know)
4G61 - 151
4G63 - 153
4g64 - 154 (dohc)

4G61 & 4G63 dohc use the same oem part numbers for the cam gears, & ive heard of people using 63 head on 61, so big or small port 63 head can be used no problems.

4G61 uses the same bearings, main caps/bolts (bottom end design) as dohc 6 bolt 4g63 turbo block, also uses same 12mm oem head bolts

with a general online engine calculator with 100mm stroke and say 83.3(1mm over sized pistons) cc's work out to be 2180cc

obviously custom length rods and custom pistons will be necessary, but my question is will the 64 crank be able to work in the 61 block ???[DOUBLEPOST=1409640033][/DOUBLEPOST]also 61 is a 82.3 bore x 75mm with same oem 150mm conrods used in 6 bolt turbo block*

Assuming you don't need a custom girdle or suitcase handles yes it will drop in. However try to think of the actual stroke of the 4G64 crank vs the 4G61 block internally.

For example:

People do 4G64 Cranks in 4G63s a lot but they have to machine the suitcase handles or girdles so that extra length of stroke clears them. The same is true if you run physically larger connecting rod ends like Aluminum rods.

What I do not understand is WHY you would want to use a 4G64 crank in a 4G61. You are making the rod/stroke ratio worse by doing this and cannot rev as high while not evening balancing out any merit the extra stroke would give.

A "better" question is can't you put a 4G61 Crank in a 4G64? There is merit there. To some this is a topic that is better left untouched because plenty of people already argue about the stock 2.0L vs the 2.3L (stroker) vs the 2.1L (destroker) vs (theoretical 1.8L super destroker)** IIRC.
