10 minute oil filter heat shield.

I didn't like how close my filter sat to my downpipe. Even with a wrapped DP the oil filter got crazy hot. Came up with this fast little little freebie heat shield. Figured I'd share.

I realize lots of you all have the filter even closer. I removed my "sandwich" style oil cooler under the filter and plan to run an external cooler here shortly.

Materials needed.

Folgers standard size coffee can.
tin snips
Hose clamp large enough to fit aorund oil filter.
I use the short fat 3952 oil filter. (or was it 3592?)

I cut a few slits in the side of the can so it would tighten around the filter evenly.

Might be smart to drill a small drain hole in case moisture were to get in. Or some vented louvers would be fancy.

I'm not sure how quickly it will corrode. Figure I'll just change mine every other oil change or so. There is no shortage of empty coffee cans at my house!
