DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THIS SECTION!!!
A Tech Article/How-To is a tutorial that is written to share an experience with other DSMers to help educate them on a subject. Whether it be a documented installation, a product review, or a tutorial explaining how to read a turbo flow map. It should be useful to the community. Every tutorial submitted should contain a minimum of 3 quality photos and 5 detailed paragraphs. All submissions will go through an approval process and only the top quality tutorials will end up being posted. This is not the place to ask for help or post questions. Those who disregard these instructions and post a question in one of the Articles sections will have their post deleted. Let us go over a few points on what we're looking for:

CHOOSE A GOOD TOPIC
The higher level of difficulty of the project the more helpful your article will be to the community. Be sure to explain why you're doing the project and what the goal is.
When writing a Parts Review/Feedback article, be sure to title the article with the product you're giving feedback on. Only give feedback on an item installed on your car, which you have tested personally. Also make sure your article is an actual review of the product, not an installation article - it should be a follow-up on how the part performed, reliability issues, quality issues, etc. If the part requires a break-in period, please wait until the break-in period is complete and you've been able to test the product in real world driving situations before submitting feedback. We don't want to see feedback about a product you have not seriously tested yet. The article should not contain customer service or feedback for the retailer you purchased the item from. It should be strictly related to the product and how it performed for your application. Should others buy it or not?

DOCUMENT YOUR TUTORIAL WELL AND TAKE PHOTOS
This step is critical. Write your article in Notepad or another text editor first so you can have a copy in case you have trouble submitting. You should attach at least 3-5 photos for each article. Text without photos is not very helpful when trying to explain how to install something. Use the Upload feature instead of linking to photos hosted on other sites in order to preserve your VFAQ long term. We recommend naming your photos in a way that you'll remember what they depict when you upload them. When writing your article, we suggest drafting a copy in a text editor such as Wordpad or Notepad - any editor that uses "plain text". Try to avoid using Microsoft Word, as that program uses "rich text" which screws up formatting when you paste it in an online submission form like ours) then copy into the message box. Try and use a Step-by-Step format.

ADDING PHOTOS TO YOUR ARTICLE
Add photos to your tutorial with our Upload feature. Do not simply use BBcode or HTML to reference photos hosted on sites like Photobucket or elsewhere. You can read how to use our Upload feature below. We require you to add photos to our site as opposed to linking to photos that are hosted on other sites so that the photos don't eventually disappear like you see happening on VFAQ.com.
How to Upload photos and implement them into your VFAQ:

Click the Upload/Edit Photos button.
|

Browse files on your computer (red arrow) OR enter enter the URL of a photo on the web you want to attach (blue arrow). If your image is hosted somewhere else, enter the URL where it is hosted here.
|

If your upload is successful, you'll see the file name listed (red arrow), if not, you'll see an error listed at the top of the window. Close the window when you're done.
|

Click the Paperclip icon above the message box, click and drag the uploaded file name and drop it in the exact location in the body of your post where you want it to be displayed.

PROOF READ YOUR HOW-TO
Go over and double-check the accuracy of the information you've posted. Keep in mind that thousands of people will potentially read this tutorial and you want the information to be correct. Use proper spelling and grammar - try and run your text through a Spell Checker - the Firefox browser has one built in to it.
