i've been doing some research and i can't seem to find bushings for the front crossmember or you may call it engine cradle, so i can replace the worn ones. i need to get them asap. can anyone point me in the right direction. oh yeah its for my 98 gsx
so i have an update for my car. i drained and
refilled the transmission fluid and didn't find anything wrong with it. also looked at the bushings for the shifter cable on the transmission and found that the one that move the stick back and forward was worn out. it had about 1/4in play in it. i...
I'm having the almost the same problem. except that it'll still shift into gear but not smooth at all. i already bled the clutch and made sure of no leaks so now my next step to look at the bushing. if i fix my problem before you ill get back to this thread. and all this info helps
i got a long block rebuilt at precision machine shop off of phillips hgwy. it cost like 1900 for them to rbuild it and put it together and i got it back as a long block no install. i put all the manifolds and accesories all back toghter.
thanks guy. all is appreciated. i tried visegrips and impact wrench thats what lead me to cutting it. ill post pics later. and ill put updates on resolving the problem. thanks
so, as i was removing the bolts and nuts to the front crossmember that hold the suspension, steering, and one motor mount, the driver side nut came a little loose but the bolt started spinning too. i tried to put some pressure inbetween the frame and the crossmember and no joy. for those who...
just to put it out there. the overheat problem was caused by the coolant temperature sensor being the wrong part. i purchased one from advanced auto parts and the temp was goin up. i replaced it again but with a stock one from a junk car and it works perfectly now.so beware, if you have the...
so there is several ways to check for a bad alt.
- with the engine running take off the neg lead to the battery or is it the positive; i forget but try both; and if the engine shuts off usually means u have a bad alt
- take a meter and check your voltage on the alt and the battery positive side...

alright.. so after i changed the VSS and reset the computer. the check engine light came on again. it was due to the AIT( air intake temperature). so i changed it. after a drive to work the temp gauge went up and threw the same code. since i have a aem short intake pipe it sits right in front...
looks like all he wanted was to increase his post.:notgood: thanks for the help and i mean that sarcastically.but my buddy got it fixed thanks to youlls help. thanks
thanks VelocitàPaola. that schematic helped me figure out that the temp sensor was linked somehow to my speed sensor which was bad. $87 later i semi fixed it. the gauge would still go up alittle then as i was feeling around on different connectors i notice the ground bonding wire, from the...
the rad fins looks clean and no major damage. it does seems there is a short somewhere or something. it does go up and down slowly when i turn something on. how can i test for that.last night i put the thermostat back on and tested the connection of the smallest thermo sensor and the guage...
i do have both. i think its pretty obviousso i drove my 99 GS home today and it was overheating again but not as much. while i was driving i turned on my a/c and again the gauge goes up but then drops alittle bit. but when i got home i noticed it creep up and my fan didnt kick on. anybody know...
Alright.. i recently had my motor rebuilt by Precision Machine shop. only the block and head and they put it together and timed and all. All i had to do was put all the accessories on then slap in the car. new thermostat upper and lower hoses the water pump is new and was installed with the long...
It does have a check engine light but its for an o2 sensor. What does ISC stand for idle sensor???? That's pretty funny though. But it actually says LS
my buddy's got this problem with his car i cant seem figure out what the problem could be. its a 2001 lincoln LS v8. it idle up and down for a litlle bit then goes back to normal. as soon as you press the gas it does it again. when you put it in drive it wants to take off. you have to press the...
have you tried having someone push the car forward while you try to take it out of gear. it maybe locked up because of the slope
or it may have to do something with your clutch
i think that sounds like a good idea. do u have a throwout bearing by any chance. can you send me a pic of it if u can. ill pm you my #. i just want to make sure.thanks for the other info guys.
I did an engine rebuild on my 420a and I'm puttimg everything together except I cannot find the bolts that attach the modular clutch to the flex plate. Its like a 18mm head but really short. Does anyone know where I can find them.
some peoples ask why dont i jsut buy a newer car thats fast already. i tell them that nothing feels better than building your dsm yourself to make more power than a new stock car w/ 300hp that i have put my self in debt and then pay more money to make more power. which one seems the smartest. ftp
thats true. how i explained is exactly how i opened my gas door when i had that problem. what i did was just pull the metal back alittle which sprung it alittle more so it could come out now.
you could pull the gas lever or have someone pull the lever while you push slightly on the opposite side of the gas door where it opens which is the front part of the gas door and it should open slighty enough to get your finger to open it all the way.
so you had all the above checked which is good. check for any IC piping couplers loose or popped off. the lack of air could be a problem. also check the maf sensor.
i bought a motor for my 99gs for $200:sneaky: all in parts because my motor blew a while back. i was reading that there is a difference in the 95 to the 96-99. how can i identify what year the motor was out of?
